I hope Japan wins this, it was lame when the Korean team planted a flag on the mound after being Japan in the second round.

Tied game! What a clutch 2-out single bottom of 9th!

Hell of an AB by Ichiro there and that 2-run double just put a huge crimp in Korea's chances.

So maybe they'll walk Ichiro next time he's up if they can tie this back up?

What CR said. Ichiro is ridiculous.

Stupid decision to pitch to Ichiro. Hell of a game, though.

Argh... why have the WBC Championship Game starting at 9:30 Eastern on a work night? Had to go to bed and missed some great baseball in the last few innnings of the game. But, congrats to Japan!

It was always known that Darvish wanted to come over to the MLB (and sooner rather than later). How soon do you think before Iwakuma comes over as well after his performance in this tourney?

I wondered the same thing until my West Coast friends reminded me that they wanted to watch the game after work, too.

Hour earlier would have made it 5:30 PM Pacific. And isn't it more important to see the end rather than the beginning?

I think it has more to do with the game being availible in all of the nations that were in the WBC (minus Netherlands). Notice that people in Korea and Japan were watching and the game started mid-morning for them. It would have been harder for them to watch if it was something like 7:00 ET.

I had a class full of young women (nutrition majors) who insisted upon watching the game in class rather than me teaching them English. Unfortunately, I had to console them all after the last batter struck out in the 10th.

I thought Darvish said recently he wasn't looking to come to the U.S. to play in the majors anytime soon? I'll see if I can dig up a link...

Dola.

Here we go.

hxxp://www.npbtracker.com/2008/11/yu-darvish-reiterates-lack-of-interest-in-mlb-dresses-as-a-bee/

Things can change quickly, of course, and I'd love to see him in the majors...just not in the NL West. Unless he's a Giant.

That's right. I had forgotten he said he wanted to be the hero in Japan.

In 2013 we'll get to see a "Redeem Team" ala team USA Basketball at this Summer's Olympics.
