2009 Seth Gottesmann Memorial March Madness Pool.

Wanted to throw a thread up in here. Gottimd ran this pool the past few years, its cheap and really well run. One of his friends picked it up and is running it in his honor. I know we have a few NCAA threads but I felt this deserved it's own.

You pay through paypal, the sight is really well put together and easy to navigate. I believe its $10 per entry.

i suck at brackets. i think it'd be cool to do this but give all the entry fees to whatever charitable trust has been set up for the baby instead of to the winner. otherwise i don't feel like my money's going to a good cause so i might as well keep it.

Ok, now it makes sense...this invite popped up in my gmail account yesterday and I had no idea where it came from so I thought it was some sort of spam.

I'll be in now.

So the money goes to the family? I'll sign up if it does, but otherwise I'm not sure.

no it doesn't. i was saying it should (minus say a 5 or 10% shot to the winner, just to give folks a reason to enter)

Why?

We know Seth enjoyed bringing people together for these kinds of online competitions, so we want to keep it going.

I am assuming the person who kept it going knew Seth far better then anyone else and figured he would have wanted it run this way. If people want to donate to the family if they win I am sure they can ( I know I will).

If they don't want to enter and still donate they can do that also, I just don't see the connection you are making. Maybe I am misreading into what you are saying, but it seems like you disapprove of the pool.

I don't DISAPPROVE. Just one of those things where normally if you see something associated with someone's name like this and there's finances involved, there's usually a financial connection.

It doesn't bother me one way or the other really. But if there was a connection of some sort then it would be different from every other pool out there in a substantive way, and it would also be doing some sort of "greater good."

No skin off my back.

OMG, I just re-looked at my bracket and realized I clicked the wrong team and had Morgan State beating Oklahoma. Well my bracket is probably screwed from that.

My yahoo FOFC bracket is in first place too. I really wish I didn't fill out this bracket when I was so tired. Can't believe I clicked Morgan St and twice!

So how is everyone doing? I am pizza pie and have climbed to within 1 of the leaders. I see Lathum tied for the top up there. I missed 3 yesterday and have gone perfect so far today. I hit Western Kentucky and Dayton for upsets and hopefully Arizona comes through tonight.
