I'll update the map tomorrow but here are the builds:

England -- Build Fleet London
Russia -- Build Army Warsaw, Build Fleet St. Petersburg (sc) (there goes that invasion idea Alan!)

France -- Disband Army Paris

Let's set Spring 1908 for Tuesday considering chesapeake is out until Monday so we can get one turn in before Christmas.

That was my bad -- I saw you had sent a PM and just assumed it was an order. I did get the one you sent after this though........

Warhammer requested a delay until Friday. Though orders were subsequently sent in I want to make sure that they weren't just guesswork since he thought I was running the turn before then.

Once I hear back from him we'll go from there. But no later than Friday!

Got a note one player won't be able to get orders in until tomorrow, so we'll bump the deadline a day.

F 5 6 6 6 8 8 7 10
G 5 4 4 3 1 1 - -

R 6 6 8 9 9 9 11 12
T 4 6 6 7 7 7 7 8

Thanks to all of you for sticking through with the game. I haven't heard from Celeval for a week, I hope he's OK.

Considering the experience differences I think that the game played out pretty well -- the Russia/Turkey alliance is a tough one to battle. The decision by Italy to head west early really helped the eastern powers to get a nice start -- both France and England were stuck early while R/T grew.

I thought Russia was going to eventually going to stab Turkey, especially with all the fleets Warhammer had built. He might have been able to get two-three centers and maybe take advantage of England's weakness and try for the solo.

This was fun to run. I hope you all enjoyed it and we can try another one sometime soon. I'd love to hear your comments about the game and what your strategies were.

I tried for a solid 3 years to get this to happen. Russia kept gaining ground, albeit very, very slowly in the north, and began approaching me about stabbing England. We were at an impasse for two full years I believe, as I wanted Russia to stab Turkey at the same time I stabbed England. I felt that if we both stabbed simultaneously, we'd be able to make a big enough dent fast enough that a Russia/France 2-way victory would be impossible to prevent. I also felt that if I only stabbed England, Russia was taking no risk and it would be simple for Russia/Turkey to take me out and get the victory they seemed to be seeking. In the end Russia taking Denmark and Munich brought them to a point where I feared they would soon become unstoppable, and I felt like I had to go along with Russia's desire to work together and hope that the intentions were genuine to bring me into the mix.

In the early game England and myself missed a couple opportunities that were open for us, we could have taken out Germany much earlier than we did. As it is, the fight for Germany lasted much longer and prevented us from making early gains to keep up with Turkey/Russia as Austria went down.

Italy ended up in an impossible situation. If we could have gotten either myself or an Italian fleet into the Ionian Sea, or if myself and England could have completely taken and held Germany, we could have made a push for Italy to pick up Trieste, making Italy a more offensive force and pushing back a bit. But Turkey did a good job holding their line and the best we could do was force a stalemate in the south.

This is the 3rd FOFC attempt to run a Diplomacy game, and the first one that came to a conclusion. Kudos to Path for keeping us moving along. This was a fun one!

Thanks, Path, for hosting the game, and congrats to Warhammer and Radii for joining me in the draw.

There were 2 or 3 times early on where Warhammer could have stabbed me in the back and brought me crashing down. Because he didn't, I made the decision not to screw him later when the opportunity for a solo was there. And it is getting to be the busy time at work for me, so I knew that I would have little time to devote to the game in Feb and March.

That makes two of us. I considered a stab late, but when I reached out to Celeval he basically wasn't going to do anything until I stabbed. Not being in a good spot to follow up with anything, and with the possibility of having to fend off Russia, France, and Italy and letting England take the spoils, I played good. That and my free time dried up which stymied negotiations.

I think the turning point in the game came when Turkey got into Venice. Had I been able to hold there for a turn, I could have had enough force to come down the boot and overthrow the line there. Unfortunately, Russia had to worry about Munich which I think would have taken care of itself had Italy fallen and France have to fall back.

I seriously considered approaching you when Russia wouldn't stab you, but I didn't know how closely you guys were communicating and that could have backfired badly on me, so I decided to play it straight and just continue talks with Russia.

At that point in the game, you were my primary enemy. My goal was to push through the stalemate line, and move into Tunis, Mar, Spa, and Por. That would put me at 12 SCs. From there, I could comfortably stab Russia. I could always go back and get the Russian SCs. My fear, which was justified, was my ability to push through the stalemate line.

Now, had you approached me to carve up Italy prior to you guys having the line set up, I would have been all over that.

i had a really good time with this (even though i lost horribly)...my early game was tough since you all new i was a noob...i assumed you would all just think i would run a Lepanto, which brought me to my screw France concept...i was one turn away from screwing him, and Celeval and I were going to carve western europe in half, but he got his fleet into position to stop me and I was caught in the middle.

I would definitely play again...thanks a ton to Celeval for helping me learn the ropes, and to Radii (until he stabbed me) for tolerating my noobism and helping with move reccomendations throughout.

thanks Path! congrats to the triumvirate.
