What is it about donut shops and reactionary wing nuts?

First it was the Rachel Ray/Dunkin Donuts/terrorist shawl episode, now a group is saying that a Krispy Kreme inauguration day donut giveaway is a thinly veiled attempt to push abortions.

Miami - Riptide 2.0 - Pro-Life Group up in Arms over Krispy Kreme's Abortion Doughnuts

my favorite part of the wingnut press release

"President-elect Barack Obama promises to be the most virulently pro-abortion president in history. Millions more children will be endangered by his radical abortion agenda.

Wow. Someone, I'm not saying names but ::::cough:::: Judie Brown :::::cough:::::: someone might walk around and beat anyone who says "choice" with her trusty baseball bat.

these people need to get frigging lives.

i don't think even the most right-wing of right-wingers on this board (cue Jon?) would read Krispy Kreme's press release and think they were talking about abortion. Now maybe he would be upset they didn't do this for Bush's inaguration, but I don't see how anybody with half a brain-cell reads that and thinks that.

When will conservatives stop trying to rewrite the dictionary?

One of the comments was great:

think if i go in the next morning they will be giving out "morning after donuts"?

I'm probably the wrong target audience since I'm pro-choice but the only way I can imagine reading this the way they seem to have done would have been if they put the word "choice" in quotes instead of the word "free".

I'm put off that they find any cause for celebration in this embarrassing spectacle but that's neither here nor there.

Dunno how you missed that one (must be an ignore thing ). I often reference that with regard to how the religious right actually wouldn't claim me as one of their own if they had to.

LOL. I don't have you on ignore. I don't have anyone on ignore. The ability to engage with diverse viewpoints is the cornerstone of a healthy intellect.

You know...I probably did know that, but just forgot or whatever. Or maybe I need more coffee (if there's one person on this board who could go head-to-head with you on caffeine consumption per day, it's me).

WTF? Some people are too stupid to live. Sorry, might be a slight bit crabby today.

What next, protest baseball because of the "fielder's choice"... That clearly is promoting abortion and the fielder's right to choose.

I say we get all these radical pro lifers and the PETA people together in one place, get the reserve drop ship and nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Maybe that's why coat hangers and knitting needles start to shake and glow every time I have a cup of Taster's Choice.

If she was allowed a choice, how did she become a mother?

C'mon, Jon. You're smarter than that.

You really think Krispy Kreme is celebrating? Or do you think that maybe they're playing on the celebratory moods of their potential customer base to get people into the store to taste their donuts?

You know, with the idea that if they taste one, they'll want to buy more?
