In case you are wondering, Icelanders are NOT terrorists!

Funny, and poignant, site.

I don't think anyone seriously thought they were - however their banks had agressively taken up UK based customers and seeing as their goverment hasn't agreed to cover the deposits in the UK subsiduaries of their banks I don't think its particularly surprising that action was taken to safeguard British citizens in some manner.

For a lot of British savers it was a bit like say people living in New York who had Wamu accounts finding they'd lost everything when that bank collapsed.

A lot of older people had their life savings in those banks and while I was lucky enough not to be affected I do feel sorry for those that were and don't think that a goverment safeguarding its citizens is a bad thing myself.

(not that I'm at all biased )

PS - It does however show the scarey side of the various terrorism acts which are active around the globe and how they can be used for things which weren't intended.

They may claim not to be terrorists, but their actions in D2: The Mighty Ducks tell me otherwise.

If their currency is still way down in six or seven months (when the weather is warmer) it might be a nice cheapish vacation. I've always heard it's a nice place.

Yup. Iceland is nice and green, and Greenland is a frozen wasteland.

They named it Greenland exactly for that reason...to draw settlers to what sounded to be a beautiful, lush land. Sucked for them when they got there and found out the truth...

I read in an article a couple weeks ago that currency conversion is virtually impossible right now with the lockdown of their banking system and the value of their currency. So while you might be able to get there (and maybe home again), I'm not sure what you will eat or where you will stay.
