My earlier comment wasn't meant as a political insult. I was just trying to be funny. After all, I thought conservatives hated Bush and especially Rumsfeld by now.

Back to the topic at hand, one of my favorite fictional presidential speeches was Jack Stanton's speech at the closed factory.

Two of the best scenes from "Seven Days in May", with Fredric March as President Jordan Lyman:

David Palmer.

He was a tv president at a time when reality gave absolutely little to have any faith in. His character was one you had to admire and the contrast between fiction and reality was great. Sure he had that wife, but she was hot (oh, any of us here would and we all know it)

As for what Detox said: He is right. Five years ago if any one of us was told that there would be a black president in 20 years we would have questioned it. For 2008 we would have laughed our asses off. What in the time since has changed? Not much, other than the times are a bit more desperate. We had a wildly popular tv show that presented a great representation of what a president could or should be. That had to open a few people to the possibility of a black man as president who would have previously discounted it. (But Obama is no David Palmer... nobody could be!)
