POL: Feeling if your candidate loses

Granted this is a little late, but one of the comments has been regarding the feeling of fair elections and the potential for them to be "stolen". So, I posted the eight options above for people to vote for. Try to answer them as honestly as possible. It will be all anonymous.

I may be naive, but I believe the whole "stolen election" argument is crap. The amount of effort and coordination required for something like this to happen is not possible in this day. Stolen election arguments by Democrats in '00 and '04 were crap and stolen election arguments by Republicans in '08 (assuming there will be some) will also be crap.

I can't see too many republicans claiming a stolen election this year, but who knows. I guess it depends how close it is.

I'd say generally that I'd WANT to believe it's stolen, but the rational part of my mind would say that it's just not possible,

Not listed, but poorer. My candidate is Obama because I bet on him.

Please tell me that was in Vegas or a bookie somewhere, not with someone you actually know.

If the latter, you really shouldn't take advantage of someone that stupid (unless you gave them a load of points).

Fraud?

What? Really?

Ugh.

I didn't vote for either candidate. Because neither represents my views on much of anything enough to get me to hold my nose. But I have no illusion that if either wins it represents some great injustice of the will of the people.

2000 was an anomaly and while I know the progressive left on radio and TV act as if 2004 was part of a miscarriage of justice, the fact is, the best thing they could've hoped for is to do to Bush that year what he did to Gore in 2000.

Bush won that race fair and square, even if it makes them mad and if Barry wins today, the right ought to be gracious and stop shouting about ACORN.

Mostly intrade.com. I have a full portfolio of bets at various sportsbooks for Presidential and Senate seats largely because I ran out of money to put on Intrade and it was easier than transferring.

No real people though

EDIT: There aren't many good bets left on the board. Obama at -850 (bet $85 to win 10) I still think has value, as does Obama to win GA or MT (Trading at 29% and 30% respectively). GA has had massive turnout, and MT I believe has Ron Paul or some other Lib on the ballot which in a rout should be enough to push the state to Obama.

I would really love to see Republicans in Wisconsin win their arguments about being able to have county officials check the voter rolls. I truly believe that if allowed to do the audits, Republicans would find out that fraud isn't as big as they think. The fact that there are so many fights against allowing the audit makes me nervous.

I don't have a candidate I am really invested in. I think whoever wins will be a one termer, but I did vote Obama because I feel he has the greatest potential to do something special.

With that said, if McCain won I'd be shocked, but not terribly upset. I'd just be floored because it seems like there is no chance in hell he will win and it'd be a monumental upset at this point.

I think we need a thread not about how we feel about how our candidate loses but what will happen to the country if our candidate loses.

Then we can get all that doomsday talk going again. FWIW, if McCain wins, once he herds all the blacks into concentration camps after the inevitable riots he'll get going on his program to gain control of the whole middle east. Poor people's taxes will be raised to almost 100% and rich people's taxes will be almost zero. Abortion will be immediately banned and Christianity will become the official state religion of the United States. All non-Christian religions will be banned (including Mormonism).

I will be pissed if my candidate loses. I voted for Joel Dolinski (Seton Hill University) for Division II football coach of the year. If he doesn't win, it just shows what happens when you let uninformed people vote and fuck shit up.

I don't know why anyone would say at this point that if a candidate loses it's because of fraud. That's just dumb.

Now if either candidate loses and days or weeks down the line we hear stories about fraud, disenfranchisement, etc. then the discussion should take place. But before the election?? That's silly.

Well, these people want to be able to say "I KNEW IT!!!" if it ever comes out. It's like, oh, saying that Aaron Rodgers is the frontrunner for NFL MVP this year. If it actually happens somehow, the person who said it feels like a genius. If it doesn't happen, well, it was so ridiculous that nobody's going to call you on it afterwards anyway. Watch this:

THE LIONS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL THIS YEAR!!!

Let's see who gets back to me in three weeks when they're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Was that because of the Colin White thing? If not, I find it completely unnecessary. Politics really brings out the worst in people.

Stolen election arguments by Democrats in '00 were valid, but not in '04.
