Ruffles BBQ Chips

Do any of you have this problem? I've gone to a whole bunch of different grocery stores, and I look for Ruffles BBQ Chips at every one, but they never have them. They've got original, sour cream and onion, BAKED BBQ flavor, but never regular BBQ Ruffles. Is it just my area that has this problem, or did they just stop making them?

Well shit. My favorite BBQ chips ever and I haven't been able to get them for probably 15 years.

FWIW I live in NW Iowa and was told they quit making them when I first couldn't find them. I work in the grocery business and was told this by both our Frito sales rep and his regional supervisor.

But if that's the case why would they be listed on their product location search list? They must be only available in some regions of the country and that pisses me off I mean really Ruffles BBQ, why would you limit a huge name brand like that? Asshats!

Passacaglia, I'm curious what region of the country do you live in and when was the last time you were able to buy BBQ Ruffles?

I know I've seen Ruffles BBQ in the last 15 years...I think as recently as the last 4. They're the ones branded with KC Masterpiece, right?

(Kool site, btw. Would've been useful when I was looking for Grandma Peanut Butter Cremes a few years ago. Do they have a Pepsi site? To lazy to look.)

I live in Chicago. I know I was able to buy them around 2 years ago, maybe even one. Probably a few months ago, really. When I've asked people at the grocery stores, they just kind of look at the shelves confused and say, "that's weird, we used to have them." Yes, they're the KC Masterpiece variety.

That is an awesome site, Ronnie. I wish I could find a similar site for Orville Redenbacher's Pour Over Cheddar Popcorn. Anyway, looks like nothing within 50 miles of me in Chicago, or my former residences of Grand Rapids and Detroit.

A little googling led me to this:

BBQ Ruffles - SpartanTailgate.com - Michigan State Spartans Forums

Is this a Sparty problem? Maybe I shouldn't bother.

I started entering in random ZIP codes into that product locator. Looks like 63025 gave me a bunch of hits, and apparently it's somewhere in Missouri. So they do sell them somewhere, according to this thing.

I don't usually eat chips, but it seems I have 6 stores within a mile that carry the BBQ Ruffles.

They are all over the place here in SoCal.

Maybe it's because they don't feel like competing with another company in your region? Does Wise make an equivalent chip?

It seems that the Ruffles brand is being phased out, and they are just carrying the Lays brand around here.

We do have the KC Masterpiece baked Lays here, and I will storm their factory (where they make sun chips) if they ever take them off the shelves.

I've never heard of Wise, but Jays makes bbq chips that are cheaper, but not as good.

Wise brand is mostly east coast/appalachia based. very good chips if you like them rather salty and thin/fragile-thin. I grew up on them. Onion and Garlic flavor was da bomb

I always preferred Jays over Lays growing up. Hot Stuff chips, corn chips, and popcorn were always good.

I've missed having the KC Masterpiece variety for a while now. Could demolish a bag at a setting if I wasn't paying attention.

Wavy Lays are such shit compared to Ruffles. And honestly, I have no idea why that is.
