A fun way to give to charity!

I found this site a while ago, but I haven't tried it. Does anyone know how to find out the legitimacy of a charitable organization?

They aren't a charity, appears they are essentially a business and donating a % to whatever charity they are doing work for at the time. (Small print says they keep 40%)

They claim it is standard and actually link to Charity Navigator. They are not a 501(c)3, and you won't get a tax write-off. However, you get a piece of art, and they give 60% of what you pay to a charity. The downside is that you will pretty much have to take their word for it.
