Runs off and registers "HasLaneKiffinBeenHiredYet.com"

Hell, if I was a fellow AFC West team, I'd hire him, and give him the official title "Assistant Head Coach in Charge of Annoying Al Davis"

Any chance he takes a head coaching job at U of Washington?

Does he have ties to the UW? This is the third time I've heard the topic come up and I can't figure it out at all. I mean, I understand UW wanting anyone not named Ty Willingham to be their coach next year, but why Kiffin? There's some decent coaches and coordinators out there that would take this job, why hire a guy who went down in flames in his last job?

From a personal stand point, I'd love to see them hire Kiffin. There is really nothing quite as funny as Seattle when the UW is awful.

Agreed and then when the 2 teams play both of them would be salivating trying to run the score up on the Raiders!

Frow what I've read, most football people think Kiffin did a terrific job with the Raiders, considering what he inherited, and it being the toughest working conditions (i.e. worst boss) in the business.

Going down in flames just meant he took the Raiders job - it always ends that way. The way it ended probably gained him respect, because he stood up to Davis and demanded that the Head Coaching job actually be his.

I'm not sure attemtping a 76 yard field goal garnered him a lot of respect.

There's no question that he was given a crap starting hand. He also worked for one of the craziest people in sports, but he did plenty of goofball stuff on his own. When people are openly questioning whether a guy's trying to get himself fired, some of the blame rest with him, doesn't it?

I guess at the end of the day, I don't see why the connection between Kiffin and UW exists other than Kiffin is unemployed and UW is going to have an opening. Hiring someone else's trash has not worked out well for them, regardless of the circumstances.

His name is being thrown around for the Syracuse job, but it might just be the fans of the program making noise. The Syracuse AD was assistant AD at USC when Kiffin worked there so I am sure they are familiar with each other.

But wasn't Al Davis trying to get him to resign so he wouldn't have to pay out the contract? Kiffin wanted the cash so refused to just resign. The whole wacky press conference was trying to establish cause so Davis won't have to pay the contract...

I would guess Syracuse or Washington could find more qualified candidates than Lane Kiffin. Just off the top of my head, George O'Leary or Frank Solich have winning records. Bob Toledo at Tulane, he's a bit on the old side, but he's done pretty well as a HC in the past.

Well, the UCF fans want O'Leary gone, so he may wind up being available...
