FOFC Politics Panel

Remember FOFC Booth Crew? I think I do mostly because st.cronin thought JiMGA & I would make a good booth crew and honestly, if I ever had the chance, I'd take it, even if Jon & I have diametrically opposed viewpoints on almost everything.

Anyway, listening to NPR the other day, I was thinking of what would make up a good FOFC discussion panel on politics. I'm thinking less the talk radio show type thing or the TV "short bursts" type thing, but something more along the lines of a 10-minute slot on All Things Considered, or even a 20-minute, single-issue (per show) podcast.

Who, to you, would represent a good group of folks for discussion? I'd say limit the #s to 2-4, since beyond that I could see it getting a bit too confusing. Also, different people for different topics? Or just a general group for current events?

I post this mostly as something to muse on before my wife goes into labor.

JimGA and myself in the booth since while we're on opposite ends of the spectrum we get along fairly well although I'd want him checked for firearms at the beginning of each show (basically simply serving as schedule keepers and posing questions) while Bubba Wheels comes in as some color, and Flere comes in for graphs, diagrams, and statistics. At the half we have Duckman come in and read a famous quote from W.

Heh. Remember the watch from Pulp Fiction? If I want to get a weapon on set, there are ways

We actually might not be bad, probably a Hannity & Colmes dynamic going on there. Beyond us, I'd have to think about other likely pairings some more.

To the original question, my most immediate answer came to the question about different panels for different topics vs a general group for all things.

I quickly realized preference for different panels for different topics, since we're pretty diverse in areas of expertise here it seems silly not to take advantage of that. So maybe a standing host duo, panel based on main topic of the week, and then general events (think the end of This Week With David Brinkley with whatever group was rotating through the show based on that week's main topic.

So basically I'm short on details but long on the format at this point.

Talking or typing? There are people on here I think I'd enjoy hear talking but whose typing makes my head hurt. And vice versa.

It sounds interesting to me (if it's text not audio), but I don't have suggestions on who. I like JonInMiddleGA's ideas for a format though.

I haven't been a Bush supporter for about three years. I'm a libertarian-minded Republican. Go back to putting unwanted flyers in mailboxes, bitch.

Trust me, the feeling is mutual.
