Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before ... all » a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

I thought it was pretty great, so I decided to share.

If nothing else, fast forward to the last 15 minutes.

I didn't think I'd be able to sit through the whole thing - then I started watching it. That was great. Is there anyway to be able to download/save it?

I'm glad someone liked it. The longer I watched it -- I posted this during the first ten minutes of it -- I thought "people aren't gonna be able to sit through this." But the ending made it completely worth it I thought. Especially for a lot of parents here, so I'm glad I put it here.

This lecture (or the ideas behind it) have been turned into a book:

Also, he did another lecture on time management:

When I saw that this was bumped, I was afraid that's what happened.

if you haven't read the book it's really good too. A lot of it is the same as the lecture, but he goes into a few more things that are more personal. I'm not a book reader at all, but I sat down and read this one cover to cover in a day just because of the message.

After my near death illness of Oct-Nov '07 I have found great solace in the words that Professor Pausch had said in not only his last lecture but in his time management talks and the words from his website.

I watched the video in full, and he had some really interesting topics of discussion. He is certainly one of the people in this world whom we can say lived a full, happy life. He had a lot of drive and desire. It's unfortunate that he didn't get to contribute even more in making this world better, but he seems like he regretted nothing, so I would say his mission was accomplished.
