Something that drives me insane on computers

I hate when I am working in one application on my computer and another window pops up to the top, taking me away from the window I was working in. I don't care if it was an application that I started and then clicked away from while it was loading. Don't pop it up when it is done loading or doing whatever it is that I told it to do. Notify me with a flashing icon in the menu bar or something, but don't pop the window up automatically. It makes me want to smash the computer to pieces.

That is all.

Yes, I have been possessed by Schmidty this morning.

I agree. It sucks when coding, since you end up typing stuff or hitting key combinations that screw things up.

TweakUI (from Microsoft) has a setting that will prevent it.

Agreed, windows activating over top of what you are using is frustrating as hell. Many of the apps I use take several seconds to load, so I often will launch something and then switch to another app to kill the time. Invariably I then get annoyed when the other one pops up in front as I'm halfway through a task or reading a page.

Even worse are the apps that seem to load in chunks, so they do it 2 or 3 times before they have finally finished loading.

Looks like I have to be an admin on my work computer to install TweakUI. But I will definitely install it on my home computer. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Also some shareware program I used awhile back that keeps the specific window on top until you tell the computer otherwise. It worked with push pin icons. It was a Godsend for working with spreadsheet applications.
