Couldn't ask for a better scenario, serving for the match. It's in your own hands, just gotta convert.

Anybody betting against Federer? |

Just when I thought Nadal had it put away and Federer was looking defeated, it's 30-30.

Nice serve, by Nadal. His 4th match point. He's got to do it that way.

That was astounding. Gotta suck for Roger, but..you know, he's still the greatest we've seen in a long, long time. So glad that Rafa got the monkey off his back.

Man, it is dark. The flashbulbs going off really make it clear how dark it is. I'm sure Roger is pissed they let the match keep going this late. Probably figures he could have won tomorrow.
What a job by Nadal. This kid is incredible to watch. Federer is amazing and a great champion, but I think it's good for tennis for Nadal to win. This will only fuel the rivalry between these two. Let's do it again in Beijing. |

Doesn't get any closer than this final score: 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7

This is sure to be an instant classic. But awesome for the kid to win back to back Grand Slams.

If ESPN Classic wants to live up to its name, it needs to start showing this thing from scratch in about 15 minutes and keep showing it for about a week |

McEnroe just said that this is the best tennis match he's ever seen. So if that's not an endorsement, I dunno what is, right? |

I've never seen McEnroe hug someone after they lost a match. Definitely the greatest match I've ever seen.

I spent forever trying to find this match on TV, which I guess shows you how long it ran - the channel guide didn't have it listed.
Tuned in finally at 3-3 of the fifth set, and just...wow. |

As an aside, is it tradition for everyone to wear white at Wimbledon?

First time in 28 years that a men's player has won the French open and the Wimbeldon Championships back to back. Bjorn Borg was the last one to manage it. Its also the first time anyone has defeated Federer in a Finals other than the French open and Nadal is still the only player to have managed it (4 times total, 3 French opens and now Winbeldon) Roger's win streak at the All-England Club ends at 5 straight titles and a 35-1 Match record since 2002. Quote:
Yes the All England Club requires Tennis Whites be worn by anyone participating. The tradiction was challenged a few years ago but by unanimous vote of the board the rule has been enforced more stringently. As a comment relating to the discussion we had in the "scoring" thread, If people can't watch any part of that match and not get excited by what they see then they simply aren't cut out to be tennis fans or players. We've had some great American champions in the past, but none of them, NOT ONE, had the skills that Nadal and Federer put on display on Center Court today for 7 hours. Simply Amazing athletes on display. Unrivaled ball control and reflexes. I admit it, I was on my couch watching and I literally sat up straight and applauded loudly when it finally ended. |

I caught bits and pieces of this, including the final set. I really enjoyed it, and I don't even like tennis.

This was outstanding. I think my wife was getting frustrated that I watched something like 5 hours of tennis today, but I was mesmerized.
I remember thinking that the Agassi/Sampras matchups might be the best I would see - in terms of contrasting styles, bringing out the best in each other, and both having a legit shot to win - for a long while, but only had to wait another ten or so years for Federer/Nadal. |

That was a great finale... though I wish there was such rain delays duringb it.

The most incredible match I've seen. Wonderful tennis. Both men added to their legacies with this one.

The Sampras-Agassi QF at the US Open 12 years ago was the best match I'd ever seen until today. I'm still recovering from it, it was just amazing.

So pissed.
I DVR'd the match yesterday, added time, and STILL only made it halfway through the 5th set. *sigh*

Incredible match. I was at a conference all weekend but managed to rush back to my hotel room to watch the final. Boy, was I glad I did. I'm gutted for Federer, but Nadal is a more than worthy champion.
Probably the best tennis match I've ever seen, but Ivanesevic winning Wimbledon in 2001 is still my all-time favourite moment in sports. That guy was a champion. |

Man, I feel sorry for you. On the bright side, you'll never miss such a big sports event ever again. Uhm, yeah, that might even make it worse...
