Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Has anyone else seen this movie? I don't know if I'm in the minority here, since I've seen nothing but bad reviews for this movie, but I found it enjoyable. It was better than the first movie, and kept be entertained throughout. I also want to see the third movie now.
Anyone else have any comments on the movie? |

My girlfriend and I went to it, and like you, weren't expecting much based upon the reviews. We were pleasently surprised. I thought they did a good job improving most elements making the sequel far supperior to the original. The only thing that we didn't like and thought was pretty cheesy was the over use of "slow motion" (skipped frames) to show the zombies running around. Most of the reviews I've seen critisize the plot saying that it's a non-stop action rollercoaster with no plot, but I thought it was fine on plot especially in that it used many elements from the games. Perhaps the reviewers are biased or have never played the games?
I am very excited for a 3rd and look forward to it. |

In response to cwilloughby, I also didn't like the zombie slow-motion. And I also didn't really like the fast cuts during one-on-one fights.
In response to ardent... yeah, that was kinda weird. |

My wife and I went to see it sat. night, and we both liked it. My wife actually pointed out more "like the video game" stuff then I did. But yeah, i thought it was a decent movie, and was not dissapointed that i spent money on it.
Not having followed the movies real close, I didn't know there was supposed to be a third, so the ending cuaght me off guard some, but definetly made me want to see the next one. Only two problems I had; 1. The "in tight" fighting shots got a little tiresome, when I couldn't really tell what was happening that much. I just knew fighting was going on. 2. This was more theater related, the volume was WAY too loud for a large part of the movie......

It is better than the critics are saying but it wasnt nearly as good as the first one IMHO. I thought the first one had a much better cast with more of a purpose. The news reporter, the wise crackin blakc guy, the hunky cops, all out of central casting really annoyed me, but for what it was I found it enjoyable. Secondly, and i dont wanna sound weird here, but the first one was erotic, in the clothes and styles and tones of the film. The 2nd one had none of that, it was just dark and dull.
