More pirates than you can shake a stick at! Seems like an odd genre for an MMORPG game, but good luck to them nonetheless.

I'll pass on the beta test but I might dive in when it's gold.

They have opened up the beta to anyone interested for a stress test this weekend. All you need to do is download and play, so I thought I would check it out. Anybody else involved in the stress test or the beta for this?
Also if you get to level 5 you can stay on with the beta team after the test ends. |

I played through the open beta and final stress test and am torn on whether to put real money down on the game. The questing seemed a little redundant, and, although the naval combat was fun and different from standard mmorpg fare, melee combat is several shades of lame. Did any others play this long enough to form an opinion?

+10,000 At the moment "Left 4 Dead" sounds like the most promising zombie co-op game in development. The development team working on it was just bought by Valve (The Half-Life people) so that's a step in the right direction. A "Word War Z" MMORPG would be sweeeeet....

I beta'd this for a couple of months during closed beta. Basically, ship combat is a BLAST...for awhile. The trouble with this game is there's just not enough of it. Quests are about as mind numbing and repetitive as you can possibly get. Most people never ready anything, just hop into the instance for the quest, look at the requirements (which are in 2 categories: sink everything around, or escort someone to some point), finish, rinse, repeat. There's ZERO variety. PvP is indeed fun. Trouble is, to trigger a PvP zone, you have to PvE (assuming other people haven't done it for you). Which, sucks. The AI ships are predictably awful, and there are several easy tricks anyone can figure out to basically mow down about anything out there once you get into a halfway decent ship. In summary...the pvp ship combat rocks. Everything else gets very repetitive, very very fast. Last edited by Coffee Warlord : 01-11-2008 at 03:26 PM. |

I'm crossing my fingers for this game - a buddy of mine from my MS days is one of the principle artists on this game and he's been working on it for a few years now, so I'm hoping it does well.

I have heard a lot of reviews about this game from various people involved in the beta, and very little of it has been good. I almost gave the beta a try when I was invited to it, but decided to wait and see what others were saying. Let's just say I am glad I didn't waste my time.....

It *was* fun for awhile. But it gets stale rapidly. I couldn't justify paying for it. |

Yep, I was incredibly excited for this one. I'm a sucker for any age of sail games, and thought this would be the thing to get me interested in MMO's again. Very bleh after playing the beta. I agree that the combat was fun, but everything else just seemed so bland. Really no immersion and no character. I'll be passing, hope they do well though, would like to see it evolve. |

The dev team, who my friends met and got rip roaring drunk with at GenCon, are a fun bunch of people. I do hope they do well, but yeah. It's just lacking that immersive factor. It's an awesome ship combat game using a generic MMORPG engine. |

This game is awesome...I have been playing for a few days on it..I am loving it...Ship Combat is amazing.
Very detailed, and some of the port PVP stuff is out of this world. Oh and the economy...One of the best I have seen.

This looked interesting, but the other poor impressions here & the botched way that they handled the pre-release made me hold off.
Maybe I'll wait a few months until they offer free trials.
