NHL 2k8: Go Blues!
My consensus is that NHL 08 is better for player vs player and online gaming, but NHL 2k8 has been much more immersive for solo play.
That being said, this thread will be a place for me to post random thoughts on the St. Louis Blues season as I try to get them back to the playoffs and beyond. The Settings Original 6's game style which also calls for "Pro" difficulty and 9 min periods. Latest roster update. Next up: Lineups |

Chicago (5-5-1) at St. Louis (5-5-2)
I decide to start Legace tonight as we have back to back games coming up with Columbus tomorrow and Toivonen is fatigued. Legace is 1-5 though and I hope he can get a W tonight. 1st Period Kane scores his 5th of the season to put Chicago on board 1-0, assisted by Lang (8). Chicago - 1 St. Louis - 0 Not a bad period, but I can already see that goalie Khabibulin is on his game tonight. 2nd Period Kane lights the lamp again, his 6th of the season, assisted by Samsonov (9) and Lang (9). Chicago - 2 St. Louis - 0 Vorobiev gets his 1st of the season to put the Blackhawks up by 3, assisted by Toews (4) and Brouwer (2). Chicago - 3 St. Louis - 0 We've hit posts, smacked heads, but can't put one past Khabibulin. 3rd Period Havalt scores his 10th on the power play as Doug Weight gets his 3rd penalty of the night to put this game away, assisted by Johansson (3) and Ruutu (6). Final Score Chicago - 4 St. Louis - 0 We couldn't get any bounces tonight and Khabibulin was spectacular.. as well as the Chicago defense when tested. 3 Stars of the Game *** CHI - M Havlat (1G) ** CHI - P Kane (2G) * CHI - N Khabibulin (33 saves) Next Up: @ CBJ (7-5-0) |

I decided to do what the real life Blues did and I trade one of my personal favorite players, Doug Weight (84) and a 3rd round draft pick to Anaheim for C Andy McDonald (86).
Weight had just 3G and 1A so far this season and that's not cutting it as a 2nd line center. McDonald has 11G and 7A and will hopefully give our 2nd line some scoring punch as we are relying too much on our first line. |

Two more games:
STL (5-6-1) at CBJ (7-6-0) We get smoked 7-2 and Legace goes to (1-6-1) STL (5-7-1) at CHI (8-5-2) We have maybe our best game of the season and outshoot Chicago 41-18 as Toivonen improves to (5-0) and as much as I want Legace to be our #1, Toivonen has really been playing well and we have been playing well behind him. Next up: at home vs rival Detroit (8-8-1) |
