(Rock Band Completists) Three "Bonus Band" songs to be offered via magazine-only
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/ex...gs-in-feb-oxm/
The February issue of Official Xbox Magazine will have three "completely exclusive," albeit obscure songs for Rock Band. The disc contains Freezepop's Sprøde, Bang Camaro's Rock Rebellion and Count Zero's Shake. OXM Editor-in-Chief Francesca Reyes tells Joystiq, "You'll be able to download the songs from the disc onto your [hard drive] and they will remain there with or without the disc in the drive." Does this mean Harmonix could eventually offer retail expansion discs stuffed with songs? That idea is pure speculation, but we'd welcome it in lieu of a full-priced 'Rock Band 2.' |

So has Rock Band replaced Guitar Hero or are they both still relevant?

Guitar Hero became irrelevant to me when RB came out, and became relevant again to me when I decided to boycott the fuckheads at Activision for their attempt to steal the "Footbullet PR of the year" award from Sony by demanding money from Harmonix to allow them to release a patch for Rock Band (PS3) that allowed the GH3 Guitar to work.

I haven't touched GH3 since Rock Band arrived. Not sure if I will anytime soon.
What's neat about the "Bonus Band" songs is that you won't need the disc after you load 'em, so non-subscribers should be able to get a hold of them after the fact. Suggests to me there's no timed exclusive wherein the songs will eventually come to Marketplace. Otherwise, you'd have to run it off the OXM disc. |

The only time I touched GH3 after RB came out was to play the Halo theme song. Played it once, and then gave the game to my brother.

Well, then, I'm glad I'm getting GH3 first. Ignorance is bliss!
Now, the reason I got GHIII was for the extra guitar....so hopefully when I get RB, it will work as my 2nd guitar... |

Which version of GH3 are you getting? PS3 Guitar Hero guitar does NOT work with RB. 360's does (and Activision is actively trying to see if they can break this compatibility) |

Blame Activision. http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...22rock+Band%22 (Harmonix has a patch ready for Rock Band that would allow the PS3 GH3 guitars to work on it.. Activision forced Sony to hold off, because they want Harmonix to pay them for the right to have their guitars work for RB) |

You realize this is destroying my 'ignorance is bliss' thing I had going for me 15 minutes ago right?

Seriously, it's cool, I trust this will all get worked out eventually.
