Lightbulb Coordinators

What about having the option of hiring offensive and defensive coordinators in addition to the head coach? It would be cool if you could hire an offensive coordinator that specilaizes in the West Coast offence. this would lead you to having to draft players and suit your roster to this type of offence. I think this would add just that much more to the game.

A very good idea.

Yes I concur (and that has to be worth not much)

It would be a lot of fun but would it necessarily be an improvement??

Where I thought it would add to the game was that you could hire a co-ordinator who is say strong in the West Coast and it would force you to tailor your offence to that system. Same if you switched to a co-ordinator who runs a Pittsburgh type smash mouth style you would need the Big line with run strength and a big runner who can go inside. That kind of thing. Defence would be similar with co-ordinators who specilaize in 3-4 blitz d's etc. I know we already get some of this now but I thought it might bring that much more.

I think that would be a good improvement. The added depth would definitely be welcomed to the game.

It's that word forced that worries me. If your entire philosophy was guided not by your personell choices but rather by the available coordinators it would add a layer of complexity but take some of the fun out of managing your roster. I can imagine having to trade away HOF RB Witser ( or see his numbers dwindle enough to keep him from said hall ) simply because I just couldn't find any coordinators who understood the run and shoot. I know this is extreme but for me while this layer of involvement could be fun it would have to be carefully balanced and not overly intrusive, much like the current factors like cohesion.

I just wouldn't think it would be cool if it was very important and if it isn't very important would it be worth the trouble to code?? That is my concern.

That is a great point Axxon. If it isn't hard to to code, it would be great for more realism, but if not, it may not be very beneficial.

Lets never forget playability. Playability tops realism any day in my book.

Personally, I'd love to see a real in depth coach-hiring system, where you can hire, fire and promote a head coach, coordinators, and position coaches. To my mind, this would add a whole new realistic layer to the GM experience.

I do realize that some players wouldn't appreciate dealing with something they'd consider a hassle. So make it an option than can be toggled at the beginning of the game.

Personally, I'd love having the added challenge of assembling a full coaching staff that would affect the performance and development of my players.
