This was another case of me forgetting to get the stats before I advanced but it didn't matter. We lose 5-2 and were never really in the game. All I do recall is Danny Briere was in on about four of their goals and we had no answer for him at all. |

First Period We go to the sin bin four times and NJ manages to capitalize on two of those with goals from Elias and Gionta to make it 2-0. We manage to make a dent in the lead with a goal from Nik Antropov but momentum is on the Devs side. Second Period Mark Bell scores us a SHG to tie it up but a turnover in our own end leads to a Sergi Brylin goal and a 3-2 Devils lead. Gionta would score his second of the night moments late on a nice feed from Elias to make it 4-2 going into the third. Third Period We amp up our pressure in the third but to no avail as Marty Brodeur stands on his head to preserve a 4-2 Devils win. Final Score NJ 4 - TOR 2 |

Another game with lots of scoring and once again we come out on the losing end as Toskala plays a very weak game in net. We were coming from behind all night before we finally tied it with a McCabe PPG with 2:35 left. Sadly, we'd give out the GWG to Olsez with 45 seconds left to let Florida escape with a 5-4 win. |

Toronto News
Going into game one we have Holmqvist in net as Toskala is currently out with a groin problem and it's questionable when he will be able to return. We take a gamble and promote Justin Pogge to backup netminder. Also out is Pavel Kubina who is indefinitie with a shoulder injury but he could be back at some point this series. In his place is Walsner. |

Game 1: Toronto @ Philadelphia
First Period Each team came out banging in the first period showcasing what playoff hockey is all about. The goalies, Biron and Holmqvist both stood on their heads making numerous outrageous saves to keep the game at 0-0 as the first period came to a close. Second Period The second period was the same as the first as each team got shot after shot but couldn't put it past either 'tender. Finally, exactly 10 minutes in to the period Kyle Wellwood hit an outlet pass to Darcy Tucker who got it over to a struggling Mike Peca. Peca put it between the defensemens legs and went around for a breakaway where he buried it backhand top shelf to make it 1-0. That is how the second would end. Third Period The Flyers amped up the pressure but the entire club was equal to the task. Finally, after controlling the puck for an extended time in the Flyers end Jeff O'Neill put a shot on net. The rebound kicked out to a waiting Nik Antropov at the backdoor to make it 2-0 Leafs. With 45 seconds to go and Jack Johnson in the box, the Flyers with the 6 on 4 advantage would score a goal as Briere tallied the PP marker to make it 2-1. Thankfully Kyle Wellwood would put one in the empty net to make it 3-1 and give the Leafs a 1-0 lead. Final Score TOR 3 - PHI 1 TOR leads the series 1-0 Three Stars 1st Star: Martin Brion (PHI) 44 SV's 2nd Star: Johan Holmqvist (TOR) 30 SV's 3rd Star: Mike Peca (TOR) 1 G, 1 A, 2 PT |

Game 4: Philadelphia @ Toronto
First Period Things look bleak early as the Flyers score two goals in 56 seconds as Briere and Gagne light the lamp. A timeout is called to gather the troops and they respond. The fourth line comes out and immediatley make an impact grinding and pounding on the Flyers. The pressure causes a turnover which Kaberle in turn rips from the point. Steen sitting in front tips it home to make it 2-1. A minute later Tim Taylor comes onto the ice and gets a pass from Antropov. Taylor splits the Flyers D and buries it five hole on Biron to tie it at 2. The assault would continue as Darcy Tucker and Matt Stajan would both score before the period ended to make it 4-2 Leafs heading into the break. Second Period The Flyers would come out both guns blazing in the second leading to a Ben Eager goal to make it 4-3, but once again the Leafs wouldn't be detered as Jeff O'Neill would score on a one timer from Ponikarovsky, and then Dustin Brown would light the lamp with a beautiful snipe over Biron's blocker shoulder to make it 6-3, and in turn sending Biron to the showers. Third Period Toronto would play D the rest of the way and only allow a goal with 42 seconds left to Kapanen to make it 6-4 but at that point the game was long over as Toronto evens the series at 2-2. Final Score TOR 6 - PHI 4 Series tied at two |

Game 7: Toronto @ Philadelphia
First Period The Leafs jump out to a quick two goal lead thanks to a Kaberle rip form the point and then Peca picking up garbage and banging home the rebound. Thanks were looking great until the buzzer sounded because the magic of the first period would be lost the rest of the game. Second Period The only goal of the second period was a Simon Gagne breakaway where he buried it five hole on Toskala. The rest of the period the teams played even up but momentum was definetly catch up with the Flyers. Third Period Daniel Briere would score 2:28 into the third from a one time feed by Gagne to make it 2-2. Then a Jeff Carter rebound goal made it 3-2 and the Flyer fans were rocking. A weak goal from behind the net by Gagne made it 4-2 with 4 minutes left and the Leafs looked done. Darcy Tucker would score with 48 seconds left to make it 4-3 and then the Leafs would get a PP to end the last 30 seconds but Jason Blake drilled the post with 7 seconds left and the game ended wth a Flyers 4-3 win. Final Score PHI 4 - TOR 3 PHI wins the series 4-3 |
