Looks a lot like...widgets+google-indexing of your files, search results within it are displayed like google results, with snippets

Yeah, it has been around for a while. I think I tried it out a year or two ago and didn't like it because it was too bloated. I prefer Copernic Desktop Search so I could do away with the widgets that cause the bloating.

you sure? I don't remember it being all widgetey before. I remember google desktop search, but this seems like it's a new/relaunched thing.
or maybe i'm just a moron and stumbled across the link on the computer at work and didn't recognize it...i dunno |

I guess I don't see the point of wasting precious taskbar space since I have a web browser open constantly anyway. Also, that damn thing has snuck past me and installed itself on several occassions, which never sits well with me.
