Bad storm in DFW
There are tornados galore in Tarrant County (Ft. Worth), moving towards Dallas. One touched down about a mile from my parent's house in Haltom City, and reportedly tore the roof off a grocery store. My parent's headed out of town on a camping trip this morning, so they are not sure if it hit their house or not.
Tennis ball size hail was reported by Haltom High School, and there have been sightings of at least 7 seperate tornados. So beware and keep safe, Metroplex FOFCers.

This was the storm that was supposed to have dropped 1+ feet of snow under blizzard conditions here but it veered south. That put the center around the Panhandle so you know that at its edge, like in the DFW area, it would get bad. Be safe.

Holy crap. This video was taken about a quarter mile from my parent's house.

Can't see the video... Too bad too, because I wanted to see what we have to look forward to. At least it's not going to hit Detroit, where most of my family is.

Now the tail end of the storm is whipping through the Austin area. There is a pretty damn impressive display of lightning, thunder, wind and rain outside my house right now.

My parents are in Richardson and said the tornado sirens were going off, but they only got some hail and nothing more serious.

In Austin it got REALLY bad for about 10 minutes or so. Really high wind, lots of driving rain and thunder and lightning. But it blew through pretty fast, so it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

Had the hail and tornado sirens. But for some reason, Eagle Mountain Lake, where I live, is like some sort of catapult to storms. The storms gather strength over the water, and then sort of slingshot into the rest of Tarrant County. I have a theory.....

Got some pretty bad rain here in Lewisville, but that was about it. The tornado sirens went off, though, and freaked my wife out (she was at home alone, I was at work). She went downstairs to a first floor neighbors place since we live on the top floor, and she brought our two cats with her.
So about a half hour after the worst of the storm passes, I get a call from her at work. Apparently our younger cat has shit all the bathroom of the poor girl who took my wife in, and the cat now refuses to be touched or get in his carrier cage. She asked me if I could leave work for a few minutes and help her out. It was slow at work and I live five minutes away, so my manager said it was cool. So I got there thinking that I would just have to sweet talk the cat a bit (he gets along with me better than he does my wife) and he would be fine. So I go into the bathroom where he's hiding, and the cat is in a FOUL mood. He's in an apartment he doesn't know, during a storm, and the whole place smells like dog, which he's never been around. So I got to him, start to pet him a bit, and then pick him up. I take two steps and he absolutely FLIPS out, and bites the fuck out of my hand and scratches my wrist all to hell. Finally, after about fifteen minutes, my wife and I managed to corral him into his cage and get him upstairs...and then I had to book it back to work dripping blood all over the place. Joy...what a wonderful Friday the 13th.

He was back to his normal, sweet, loving self this morning. I couldn't stay mad at the little SOB...
Of course, if my hand gets infected that may all change.

Welcome to what we in Kansas call "spring". Not to minimalize it but we get 3-7 nights of this during each spring and a couple more in the fall.

Man, the entire Metroplex is getting a beatdown right now...60-80 mph winds and rain and flash floods. No tornadoes yet, but they're a possibility...
