Rookie QB question

How many rookie QB's (drafted in the same year) have led their team into the playoffs?

I'm about to do this with my team in FOF and I pondered this question.

I'm sure someone will pipe in quicker than it took me to type this question.

Thanks!

Ben Roethlisberger and Dan Marino are two that I can think of off of the top of my head.

Yeah, those two come to mind as well. I'm glad it's a tough question.. I'm not there yet, but I'm getting close.

Ben Roethlisberger was the immediate answer for me, but that's recent and I'm not old enough to really remember Dan Marino's rookie year.

Dieter Brock - Rams '85 shouldn't count though since he played in the CFL prior to that.

Pat Haden Rams 76.

Bob Waterfield Rams 45.

I did some reasearch on this and it's not many that's for sure. I did find that Shaun King (mentioned above already) in 1999 was just the sixth rookie quarterback to start a playoff game since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger and one of just two rookies (Pat Haden, 1976) to win a playoff contest. Ben Roethlisberger has since been added to that list.

Orton didn't actually play in the playoffs as a rookie, so it depend on what one means by "leading a team into the playoffs." John Elway is in the same boat there in 1983.

Good trivia question though.

That looks like we got 5 of the 7. We still need 2 more.

King
Marino
Roethlisberger
Haden
Brock
