It's nice to be appreciated at work

As I've mentioned previously, my last job showed some signs of disrespect in assigning office space and other matters. I've been at the new job for just over 7 months now and it is time to renegotiate my deal soon since it was a 1 year deal. Not that there is much negotiation since it is a state job and there are some guidelines in place. However, in the last few weeks I've gotten a bigger nicer office and when I arrived to work today I was pleased to see that my ancient (at least 8 years old) CPU and (big ugly) monitor had been replaced by a brand new Dell and a flat screen monitor. A few of my colleagues are a bit jealous that the "new guy" didn't get hand me downs and they have older computers (only a year or two old,) but I'm very happy at this small sign that the administration values me.

Nice, EF. I remember your posts from the old job. Sounds like this one is working out a bit better for you.

They're just fixing up your "real" new office in the basement and letting you use the new guy's stuff until your office is ready.

yeah, well, they know you are uber productive and need some good machine to run FM with a gazillion background leagues to play in between patients...

You know I'm joking, I'm sure this is all well deserved. Do good things and good things will happen to you, as they say.

Totally agree that it's nice to be appreciated... I just got a promotion to doing something that's not quite so menial and will give me job flexibility as well. The boss told me that he was glad he "had an opportunity to promote" me, which made me feel really nice.

It's nice to be respected and appreciated! Congrats, EF27!

So, I hope they don't give you the big 5 year deal heavily backloaded and filled with unreachable "Phillip Rivers-esque" incentives. It would suck to have to restructure, or risk getting cut.

Be prepared in case they ask you this question during negotiations:
