Help please
I'm looking to switch to Direct TV, from Dish Network.
This because MLB Extra Innings is going exclusive with Direct. (girlfriend is a baseball fan, and must have it)< amazing huh? She also has no interest in watching games on a PC either. I'm stuck, as I would go with MLB TV, but I want to appeal to her tastes. So, I'll need to call up Dish, have them come pick up there equipment, then set-up an install date for Direct. Any advice here is welcomed. |

My best piece of advice is to put me down as a referral so I get the $50 credit.
My second piece of advice is to call DirecTV up and get hooked up. You're familiar with satellite, so you don't need me to explain HD, DVR, etc. You should be getting all kinds of free or cheap equipment, so line it all up now. Any specific questions?

No, put me down for the referral.
I'm also unsure of any specific questions you have. If you want to make the switch (for your girlfriend or whatever), then do it. |

Being located in the area your in I would guess that what I'm about to suggest is probably moot point, but just be sure that you can get what is being advertised. A lot of people I know have found that because of their particular location, even though the provider advertises a specific selection option, they are unable to get what they want.

Don't listen to gstelmack or EF27. Put me in as your referral. I love DirecTV so much that I'm willing to accept a $50 credit.
Seriously though, I'd check to see if you have local channels available in your area. Also check to see if they're in HD. I would recommend getting their HD-DVR. We enjoy it a lot and it really isn't that expensive. On installation, you need to watch whoever installs it. They'll take shortcuts like crazy. When we got it installed in NY two years ago, the guy wanted to hook my cable up to my neighbor's dish (we lived about 10 feet apart and the dish was immediately in-between us). Last fall when the guy came to hook it up, there were a multitude of mistakes he made that I had to point out he was doing wrong. For instance, he was only going to run one cable to my receiver. I asked him if I needed two cables to record a show and watch another. He told me I only needed one. Wrong! You gotta watch those guys. |
