Dennis Green bids farewell to the Arizona Cardinals
Thanks to Arizona Cardinals fans, players, front office, owners, and the NFL.

When I met with the players this morning, I told them they are enjoying the good fortune of being here, of having a great job, and should feel great about being able to play NFL football. And I too feel very fortunate to have been able to work with these fine young men these past three years. NFL football is clearly “America’s Game.”

When I came to the Arizona Cardinals three years ago, I believed that we could shape the Cardinals into a playoff team. Together with Rod Graves and the Bidwill family we did just that. I thought we would be in the playoffs this year.. I also thought we would do so my first year. We came very close to winning the games needed to do so. And although I’m proud of what we have accomplished in terms of putting a great team of young talent together, we didn’t achieve the bottom line goal of every team: making the playoffs.

(stevew's note....the following paragraph makes little to no sense whatsoever)
As a head coach for 25 years who is used to winning, who turned around the programs at Northwestern, Stanford and, in particular, the Minnesota Vikings, had the best win record of the 90s, making the playoffs 8 of 10 seasons with the Vikings, we fully expected to win in Arizona.

We worked together to make bold moves and developed a plan to move the Cardinals forward. I wish them all the best as they look forward to the 2007 season and beyond.

As for me, I will continue to approach the future on the high road, as I continue to enjoy my five favorite things: Faith, Family, Friends, Football, and Fishing.

During my 2002 – 2004 coaching hiatus, I engaged in broadcasting and in sports marketing and creative consulting projects both in and outside of football, and anticipate doing so again. I love football. I love coaching. And if I am not coaching, I’ll again be engaged in sports marketing and creative consulting projects.

I leave the players and fans a final thought that I have written before: “Live on the High Road, with Expectations and Commitment at home, on the field, and in the community, doing so with Desire, Dedication, and Determination.”
A blessed new year to all.

I'm not a morning person, so I blame the clock reading of 8:47 for my reading "Faith, Family, Friends, Football, and Fisting."

Tune in for our next episode, "If he listed his top 6 things, you wouldn't have misread that" Or, "It was what you thought it was".

Does anybody else think the NFL should have arranged for Green to present the Bears with the Halas trophy last week?

I was thinking of the 4 F's for young single guys:
Find 'em, finger 'em, fuck 'em, and forget 'em.

They got the right to vote, and so now we don't have to finger 'em anymore.
