So I know people here didn't like it, but was this just a gigantic bomb for EA? Or did it end up finding a market somewhere?

Free of charge is still vastly overpriced.

There is only one other game I've BOUGHT that is worse, FPS Football '99.

This is what I'm wondering as well. I could be wrong, of course, but I kinda have the feeling, reading also Madden/NCAA boards, that this game was abandoned pretty early by the majority of the people. I mean, for sure they initially sold some copies with the hype and everything, but this was a first-gen game, they had to create a market for it. It's possible to see some sales numbers, somewhere, or they usually don't get released???

I figured I would wait until it was $10 or so, or is that still a waste?

Its a game with a lot of interesting ideas and hard work put into it, but plays like none of the designers thought along the way "will this final product be fun for anyone to play all the way through?"

Its like a movie with a great sounding action plot that ends up being 3 hours of horrid dialogue.

I guess I'll just wait until I get my "download it for free" option then.

I know a few people on here (or another MB and they were posting about it in the thread) about editing the files that came with the game (PC version) and changing the clock settings, AI sliders, etc. etc.

Anyone know what happened with that?

Cwill (Cwilloughby?) did quite a bit of amazing work, but I *think* he eventually gave up just because there were too many problems to fix. Even with the interception sliders turned down, there were still too many if you used any length of quarters that would give other realistic stats.

It's right up there with FPS Football '99 as the worst game purchase I ever made. At least I was able to return FPS Football '99 for a refund, so I ended up OK there. NFL Head Coach really turned out to be the biggest waste of $40 ever for me.

Sure, go ahead and download it for free if you can, guys. You can see how terrible it is, too!

After 3 days I gave it to my brother-in-law... after I paid about $40 for it. So basically I gave away $40... that's how much it sucked. It was The Sims without a nude patch stuck in an office.

Apparently, EA is still claiming it has $19.95 value!

Worst game purchase for me, by far. Thing is, I was one of the people before it came out saying "Hold on, I'm concerned about a lot of this and it is EA, so you know it'll be screwed up somehow"

Yet I wanted this type of game so bad that I bit on day 1 anyway. Holy crap, what a major league mistake. I realized I was in trouble when I was 3 hours into the game and hadn't hit the draft yet. Then it just got worse from there.

Painful.

I bought it at Walmart about a month ago for $20.00.

I hated it. I just sold it on EBay for a whopping $5.00.

Amazingly, I have friends who were still playing this game in season 2 as recently as a few weeks ago. One is the defensive coach, the other offensive.

I had the game, played a couple of days, never really got to the draft and realizing that was what to expect, I threw in the towel.

FPS BB '98?

At least it was patched and some files were made to make it playable down the road.. at least from what I can remember.

Not sure it is vastly overpriced, but free ain't always that great.

Granted I have not tried any demo and I've not read many threads regarding this game but what little "free" time I have is anything but free and many games are fighting to receive my attention...

For whatever reason I still have a morbid curiousity to play the game. I wont be paying $20 for it though. Maybe $10, maybe.
