FOF -- Unplayable for me
I can't play the game! I get many random hard lockups and have to reset. I've tried all the suggestions I've seen -- changing the bit depth on my display, disabling acceleration, killing off background processes, etc, but nothing helps.
I can usually play for about 10 minutes or so, then I get a lockup -- seemingly always in a different place. Any plans for a patch, or should I just return this thing? Tom Athlon 950 512Mb memory 2x40Gb disk Voodoo5 SB Live latest drivers for everything, etc. |

You're not alone. Many are having the same issue. This is significant. Can't blame it on the "systems". It's defintely the game...working with the systems.

It seems that most of the people experiencing lockups are using Voodoo Banshee, Voodoo3, and Voodoo 5 cards. In some (maybe most) cases this can be resolved by lowering hardware acceleration and/or Disabling DirectDraw/Direct3D acceleration.

Have you reinstalled since then? Make sure you defrag your drive before you do...I know this sounds like crap, but trust me, it will work 90% of the time if you defrag before install.

This doesn't work for me. My computer is set to defrag every night. I used the other suggestions as well and I still crash. I have a Voodoo 3 2000 card running on a Pentium II-300. I have the latest drivers. I turned down my hardware acceleration and I have disabled my direct draw. This shouldn't be the case of video card incompatibility if I can use any other software package on my computer with no problem. This is the only game that I am having problems with. This should have been tested by their Quality Control/Assurance department.

Sachmo,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I tried it and it didn't work. Any others? Thanks, Tom |

TRuschak --
Just noticed that you're stationed in Lafayette...also IN? If so, do you have an email address I could reach you at? Can't really help out with the lockups, though. |
