Anyone know song in Gears of War commercial?

I keep seeing the commerical for the new game Gears of War for the XBOX 360 and I am wanting to know what song is playing. Anyone know???

I have to admit that the closing sequence in the commerical with that giant spider like creater is impressive.

I just saw the commercial and it's driving me crazy because I know the song and can't think of what it is.

Looks like "Mad World" by Gary Jules.

(Another commercial that, as cool as it looks, I'm really getting tired of seeing)

Yup, Mad World by Gary Jules, a cover of a Tears for Fears song that pales in comparison to Jules's remake.

Watch the movie Donnie Darko sometime too, because that's a great film and is largely responsible for that song becoming as popular as it has.

Hrm.. sure it's Gary Jules and not Michael Andrews? This clip from the Donnie Darko sound track sounds just like the one in the commercial.

I could swear that's Gary Jules's version of it.

It most certainly is the Gary Jules version. I'd bet the farm on it.

I believe it is Michael Andrews singing the song by Gary Jules (if that makes sense).. you can check this link on mtv's site for the info:

http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/andr...l/artist.jhtml

Also if you look at the soundtrack for Donnie Darko you will see that its Mad World performed by Michael Andres -AND- Gary Jules. I think Jules is who wrote it and perhaps plays piano, and Andrews sings in it.

It's the opposite. Gary Jules sings the song and Michael Andrews plays the piano.

It's an excellent song/cover. Unfortunately the only way to get it off iTunes is if you buy the entire "Donnie Darko" cd. It's not available as a single. I keep checking, but it never changes.

Damn youse, iTunes. Damn youse!

I got it off of itunes as a single about a year ago or so. I heard it on Donnie Darko and something about the song just got stuck in my head, so I downloaded it. Maybe they changed it though..

Thanks WVUFan, I knew it was something where they both were involved in it.

I bought the single this week from iTunes. The artist is listed as "Sacre" - I dunno if that is essentially the same as this Gary Jules fellow.

Sacre : Gary Jules :: Derek & the Dominoes : Eric Clapton ??

I'm 100% certain it's Gary Jules' "Mad World" because it's on my computer.

Yes, my point was that Michael Andrews and Gary Jules did it together. So all of you are correct

Either way I'll be picking this one up no matter who sings what.

Speaking of which.. I'm confused on the release date. I see November 7th but, then I also see the 12th marked as 'Nationwide'.. It is like there is 2 release dates?

My copy is listed as being by R.E.M. but it's not uncommon for stuff on eMule to be mislabeled.

Just FWIW, the original version by Tears for Fears is very different than the slowed-down rendering that is mentioned here. I happen to like the original a lot (and highly recomend the album The Hurting), but if you get that version you will probably be very surprised. The version used in Donnie Darko and the advertisement is a serious re-visioning of the song, not just a re-recording by someone new.

I was talking about the game actually..

Very familiar with the Tears for Fears version...

I actually have a copy of the song posted on my personal webspace. PM me if you want the info (that helps me keep track of my bandwidth). The version I have is in unprotected AAC format (.m4a).

Great song but that dumb ad has been responsible for the song being in my head for a good long while.
