Might be easier just to play the song on a real guitar!

The first half of the song is deceptively easy. Then it kicks you square in the nuts.

Yup.

Everything's calm, cool, collect.

"WHAP!" GUITAR SOLO time.

Then you're holding your groin, looking up and saying "What the Fuck just happened to me?" at the message "Song Failed"

That was cool. I thought maybe you needed 6 hands to play the last part.

Somebody tell me what GH is? It looks like Dance Fever but how do you simulate playing a guitar?

Guitar Hero II

It comes with a mini-guitar with five fret buttons (each different color like you see on the screen), and a strummer bar.

To play a note, you move the strummer bar (up or down, doesn't matter, usually on the really fast songs you have to go back and forth) while holding down the appropriate fret button.

I'm with some of the people commenting on the vids. That performance has got to be a hack of some kind.

dola,

Check out the GH II Bark at the Moon video, a song that is actually on GH I. The song is clearly the real one overlayed on top of the GH visual.

bah. You know, some people can play an actual guitar way better than that. You know a guitar that has 6 strings and way more than just one place to push on on each string? Not the 5 button fisher price guitar in guitar hero.

Seriously, who's going to want to play expert in this game, only like confirmed masochists and those who want arthritis before they are 30.

Expert is definitely where I'm jumping in on this one

Why does that song have 'Strutter' as the title, and why is there a stretch in the final minute or two where he has star power activated, isn't missing a note, and yet his multiplier is staying at 4X?

Something smells fishy.

I'm changing my answer to "he was playing a debug version."

Those oddities are still odd, but after playing last night, the Hard version of Freebird is very similar to what's found in that video.
