King of New York Buys a 3-Dollar Latte!

I know that's a lot of money for the KoNY to pay for a latte, and to be honest, he's purchased hundreds of 3-dollar lattes in his life. Sometimes he gets a small latte, and that's only $2.75. But today he got a medium.

Just funnin' you, Cronin--hope the house works out for you.

I pay $4.21 at least 4 times a week getting an iced quad venti non-fat carmel macchiato at Starbucks.

I can't believe I've turned into one of those people. But I have.

I tried drinking an iced coffee once.....

I should have gotten a medal or a TV special for actually putting something that disgusting in my mouth.

wow, that's almost as bad as being a smoker. 4 times a week, 52 weeks a year, you spend $875 or more a year on these iced things

Try one up here in a Boston/New England Dunkin' Donuts. They don't just take a pot of coffee and add ice to it like they do in the rest of the US. It's pretty damn good.

FM, don't put it like that. You make it sound so terrible.

Actually, what you have to figure in is that I've recently lost 50lbs and drinking Starbucks was often (and still is) my lunch. So instead of spending $4-8 bucks at Taco Bell I would spend it there. So it's justified.

Expensive coffee is like levying a tax on trendy people. I approve of it.

okay, I'll retract. It's not as bad as smoking. At least you're not forcing others to drink it when you breathe out`

Nah, ain't even close.

Figure 2.5 packs per day at $28/carton (varies, but that's about the avg here)
That's about 1.75 cartons per week, so $49/wk times 52 weeks = $2,548/year.

(I know you were just yanking his chain, I just figured I'd make him feel a little better about the expense )

I was definitely yanking his chain. Still, $4.21 for a coffee is much more than I would pay

Same here.

And, considering the quantity of coffee I consume daily to go with the smokes, it's a good thing I won't pay $4 a hit for it

I don't grudge anyone else for paying it, I just honestly haven't found any that my palate can distinguish as being worth a cost increase of several hundred percent. And all those multi flavored jumbo super grande dandy twelve adjective coffees are just blech to me, so there's no temptation in those for me either.

28 bucks a carton, what the hell kind of swagg are you smoking? Although I thought you said it was something like Camel Menthol Lights. It was something like 40 bucks a carton when I used to smoke newports, I never really bought cartons cause it was the same price if you got them by the pack.

Marlboro Menthol Light 100's (box much preferred over soft pack).

$28 per carton is a round number that represents the average "sale" price for the premium brands here. It'll vary a little from time to time, anywhere from $25.99 to $30.99, but either $27.99 or $28.99 are the most common prices. They aren't always on "sale" everywhere, but there's virtually always somewhere that's in my regular loop that is sale-priced at any given time. I put "sale" in quotes because the lower price is usually in effect about 3 weeks out of every 4, so it's not like it's a short term discount like "sale" usually implies.

Those discount brands you mentioned usually run (I think) about $20.99 to $22.99, but damned if I've ever found one of those I could stomach the taste of.
