World Series 2k3 (xbox)

I believe that it comes out this week. If there are any early purchasers out there, I'd love to find out if this is the baseball game to purchase this year - there are a lot to choose from. Thanks.

I've bought it, and I'd recommend it to any baseball fan who likes building dynasties and can appreciate the work that has been done on this game. My first try at a dynasty, I dug my team into an unbelievable financial hole, which I'd never done before in any game. It's a lot of fun game-play-wise as well; the animations are stunning.

I have it for Xbox, by the way.

wow, I'm impressed. I haven't owned a console baseball game in years, but they've done a really good job with World Series 2k3. Great franchise mode, good graphics, strong animation - I'm going to be playing a lot of this. I've only simmed halfway through one season, so I don't know how (or if) players develop yet.

How is the actual game play? I may need to slip out to the video store...

I'm not sure what to compare it to. I guess the best way I can answer that is that it feels realistic, it's not too easy, and it hasn't annoyed me. I think the other games have some different methods of pitcher-batter interface, etc., but not having seen them I can't compare. I can say that WS2k3's version works quite well on its own, though. The franchise mode is good stuff, and I enjoyed the home run derby - it was a good way to practice.

Is it anything like last year's version? The local store didn't have the new one yet, but I played the old one and gameplay stinks.

haven't played last years. At the very minimum, you can control the fielding this year, so that's an improvement.

I don't want more control. I want to be able to let the computer do more and let me concentrate on hitting or pitching.

Automatic Fielding

Yes, GrantDawg you can turn the fielders on auto completely and not worry about them, you can also turn off the batting cursor, so all you have to worry about is the timing of your swing ... but doing that, to me would just make it a twitch game and take a lot of the fun out of it but, that's just my opinion though.

But just to answer your question, yes you can turn the fielders on auto .... set it, and forget it!

How does pitching work in this is game? Always interested in how games decide to do this, and it's also my favorite part of the game, so it's gotta be something neat.
