Where do you see video games in 50 years?

I think that in 50 years we will see more of a convergance of hollywood and video games. I wouldnt be suprised to see a lot more interaction, something even trek-esque

Total VR...addiction will be at an all-time. The Sims will be an actual alternate life to break things out of the daily duldrum.

Edit -- And I don't think it'll take 50 years to get there. Probably not even half that time.

There will be a a totally VR Playboy: The Mansion game that will come with a disclaimer on the box that says:

"WARNING: GoogleMicroSoNy Inc. is not responsible for damages incurred by seminal fluids. Protected under the Amexican Government."

In 50 years time video games will come on 'one' format which is playable anywhere on whatever device you have to hand (probably nanbots which are part of your body ).

With regards to graphics etc. - it might surprise you to know that I expect FM will still have a lot of text in it, simply because other methods of communicating information (speech etc.) take up longer time than people generally have patience for when playing a game.

I think it will happen much sooner.

It could be argued that it's happened already - full motion clips and Hollywood stars have been around for at least 10 years. The technology and the games weren't quite ready yet, and may not be now, but they should be soon.

I'm not sure video games will be around in 50 years. Perhaps in some form that's beyond my current imagination.

If you mean with regards that Hollywood will increasingly use digital footage and eventually discard actors in favour of digital persona then I agree with you (not least because it'll leave the companies without some very large fee's to pay) ... but if you mean games using more actors then I disagree.

when I made the comment about hollywood, I actually meant that you might see video games and hollywood combine. Whereas you live the movie, or some such idea.
