FM 2006 question

Question for those who've done the digital download - is it a significant pain in terms of delayed patches and/or more general issues ? I can't seem to find the game in any of the stores and I don't have the patience to buy it from amazon.co.uk - so I thought I'd ask here.

Some people have major, legitimate nearly show-stopping bugs with the digital version. (Fortunately for me, I've miraculously avoided these issues)

I'd recommend getting WWSM from a Gamestop online or something like that.

Hmm. I have a gift card at Best Buy I'd prefer to burn on this - but sadly, they don't seem to carry this either.

I'd recommend FM 2006 rather than the counterpart WWSM 2006. The latter is the one that had the patch delay issue.

Just the digital version of WWSM though.

I have FM2006 on disk and I've had the crash to blue screen issue and the array access error. This version of the game has cause more problems than any other version. I would suggest saving often when playing a career.

if you wanna read about general issue with the digidowload version, just read some of the last few posts in the huge FM2006 first impression thread...

I'd highly recommend you stay as far away from the digidownload version as you can. Be patient, order either WSM or FM online and wait for the box version to get to you. You'll thank me later...

Me, like RPI-FAN, I was lucky enough to have avoided the big issues but the late patch is still a sore spot in the whole experience...

Two last words if you're not scared enough of the digidownload version: Digital River... Now that should do it...

I agree. I don't see any reason not to buy FM as it's the "global" version. Support for SI aside, it doesn't make any sense to buy WSM until they sort out the release timing and download issues. And you're supporting SI anyway since you're buying their product.

I've got FM2006 on disk and I haven't had a single problem. I got mine from GoGamer (paid a little more, but it was FM and it was here in a couple days).

I've also ordered past versions of CM/FM from Gameplay over in the UK. It takes about two weeks and it's a bit expensive, but it used to be about the only way to get it. And I never had any problems with them.

I ordered my game for the UK too. I've also ordered from Gameplay in the past. I have no issues with the ordering or the receiving of the game.

I still have crashes to blue screen however!

I'd also agree with this. I have the download version and am actually thinking about buying FM2006 instead. The patch bug and the fact that the language file for UK English isn't available has really been frustrating. The game itself is better than ever though, which is why I'm considering the other version.

it should be available. i know marc posted a link to it a couple of months back. you could also just download the FM06 demo and copy the language file over to WWSM (which is what i did)

While it probably works, it wasn't recommended to do that. There was a link to a mini-patch that installs the UK English onto WSM. If anybody wants it, I can probably find it, or else send you the file by email tonight. I still have it on my home pc...

here's the link that was posted in the SI Games forum. Miles Jacobson said at the time that it was a temporary link although it still seems to work...

That's excellent! I had missed that. Thanks FM, I'll try it tonight.

When I try and install the UK language pack, it looks for fm.exe and can't find it, as I have WWSM (digital download). How do I fix this?

find the folder of your installation of WSM, then delete the "FM" that is written in the little window, it should show you all files, then click on the executable for WSM...

You can get the UK english for it. Just search a little. I downloaded the demo and had no bugs whatsoever -- very happy. Then after the 6 months ran out, I couldn't buy it. Digital River's site wouldn't let me - kept getting an error. I got no response from Digital River to my inquiry for help TO BUY THE GAME! That is, I hadn't bought it yet, so they had everything to gain by helping me (it's usually only after you buy the game they ignore you). Anyways, I gave up and ordered WSM from Amazon. That was the advice I eventually got from someone in the know.
