WOW (in a good way) (job related)

Please forgive me for bragging a little bit here, I don't exactly mean to brag, but to say, "Oh my word, this is NOT what I expected."

Remember, I was unemployed for 8 months last year, after finishing my Master's degree in Dec. 2004. I finally got a job at a company I really wanted to work for, and started on 9/12/05. Today, 4 months and 1 day after I started, I've become the harness design lead for 2 (and soon to be 3) of the satellites I've been working on. This means that I'm the one in charge of how the satellite harnessing (i.e. how the wires are run and where they go) is done, the schedule, the budget, the manufacturing, and the others working under me.

I must say, I never really expected this. I mean, they've been talking about me becoming the lead for these projects, but it never really sunk in. Yet today was Paul's (the guy who was technically the lead before me, though I've been working side-by-side with him for awhile now) last day on the project (he's moving to a different part of the company)...

So here I am, never having done harnessing before coming to this job, and all of a sudden, I'm in this crazy position. I gotta say, I'm a bit intimidated--there's a lot of responsibility and accountability...

But it's still kinda neat.

Just had to share.

Wait, so you're going to be designing satellites? Like, that are up above our heads? Aw, shite... we'll have to build an air bunker...

Just kidding, of course, congrats - that's great news.

For some reason I thought this thread was about World of Warcraft, and I'm reading, thinking, amazing, they're going to do something with satellites and World of Warcraft. I got to the end before I realized that the WOW was just a "Wow".

I played that damn game far too much.

But congrats! Give 'em hell.
