Ive got a new team. Short and Stunty. Im going to try to play a game or two once I get approved. Hopefully, with no set schedule, I can finally get a chance to join up :)

Abe Sargent 02-26-2006 07:27 PM

Running Commentary - I scored first blood by coming across the pitch and going through the other side.

He got a great bounce on the ko.

We are each down to 10 because of Heat exhaustion

I plugged up teh middle and he couldn't score - halftime.

I kickoff, good bounce for me and we're out of this damn heat exhaustion.

Yeah, things looked bleak for my team, so I figured what the heck. Got lucky and was able to rumble in for a draw.

Needless to say, I am not very good at this game yet.

Glengoyne 02-26-2006 08:46 PM

Trying to figure out how to easilly get the link to post...not figuring it out though

KWhit 02-26-2006 08:47 PM

Just cut and paste it into the post.

Abe Sargent 02-26-2006 08:47 PM

Damn rock. Been hit with that every game, despite high fan factors an all of my teams.

Yikes.

Glengoyne 02-26-2006 10:26 PM

Was a Good Game.

I missed your take at the end of the game. How'd you do?

Oh and sorry 'bout killing Drang and all.

KWhit 02-26-2006 10:28 PM

I have a question for you vets. What is the standard etiquette regarding fouling? Is it generally anything goes? Or do people frown on teams that foul a lot?

Abe Sargent 02-26-2006 10:29 PM

I sucked. I had 80k from my first match so I replaced Drang. It's ok, its just a practice squad to get me used to the. I really like these Dark Elves though.....

Oh, and I got my first skill level up. One of my linemen was voted MVP in both mathces and leveled up. I grabbed Block.

It really varies. A lot of people will complain. Then again a lot of guys have teams designed to foul the bejesus out of the opposition. I really typically only do it if I need some sort of strategic advantage. If someone does something to go past a certain threshold, then I'll likely retaliate heavilly. To me it really is part of the game, so I have a pretty high threshold before I'd get upset. With others any foul is a bad thing.

Block is very good. Guard is also a very good lineman skill. I think it is one of those things where you really need to learn how to use it. One of my blitzers has it..but I think it only came up one time in our game. I need to figure out how to make more use of it.

Block is great, because you're always hitting people, and you completely get rid of one of your negative results.

Abe Sargent 02-26-2006 10:41 PM

I am now submitting my Anxiety's Annihilators, a Dark Elf team, to the group as my third league team.

My personal position is this: Did it help you strategically? For example, Against Glengoyne's team just now, I was continung to block even though he'd broken past my defenses and was going to win without me touching him. I can get star points for a casualty off a block. I get nothing off a foul, so why do it then?

KWhit 02-26-2006 10:47 PM

Makes sense. How about this scenario:

What if I had a team that was bigger and stronger than my opponent and my strategy was to try to knock out some of his players? If I foul early and often to try to get him down to 9-10 guys on the field to my 11, is that considered shady?

Glengoyne 02-26-2006 10:58 PM

Not Shady. In fact there are teams designed around that concept...See Khemri or to a degree Chaos.

The deal is, in an open play environment, some people won't play you with some of their teams.

KWhit 02-26-2006 11:04 PM

Okay. That's what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overdoing it. I fouled 3-4 times in my game with Bonegavel the other night (my first game ever) and then fouled once tonight against Anxiety. It helped me out a little bit because I was able to thin their numbers a hair, but I did have a guy ejected in my game with Bonegavel. But it occurred to me that maybe that was bad form.

Thanks for the info.

Warhammer 02-27-2006 08:49 AM

My only advice with the fouling is be careful with it. Some of the Elf teams can be crippled early on in their existance if you foul them too much. I had a Wood Elf team in a RL league down to 8 players after three games last year. That pretty much killed any chance of that team being any good due to the cost of the players. But, the Elf coach needs to realize this and try to prevent his players from being in positions in which they can be fouled.

SirFozzie 02-27-2006 04:54 PM

Last call for any coaches who haven't accepted their invite or want to get in.. I will be inviting whatever teams I see missing tonight, and tommorrow will begin league play.

SirFozzie 02-27-2006 05:59 PM

Ok, I think all teams have been invited (I'll have a third team before I press the GO button)

Two teams have to accept their invites:

Anxiety's Annihilators (just added)
and
Serpents Tongue (astrosfan)

Airhog 02-27-2006 05:59 PM

invite my team sirfozzie, if you havent already

SirFozzie 02-27-2006 06:05 PM

I must have missed your team, Airhog, what's the name?

SirFozzie 02-27-2006 06:08 PM

nevermind, got it. Do you want any other teams (you can have up to 3)?

Hope some of the coaches who expressed interest early in the thread see this, be a shame for them to miss it :)

KWhit 02-27-2006 07:12 PM

Anybody want a warm up game?

Airhog 02-27-2006 08:14 PM

hmm, I think my other two teams are still active...

So are we starting this thing up today?

SirFozzie 02-28-2006 12:35 PM

one of the two coaches I IM'd last night about having unaccepted invites has teams he wants to enter today and will get it to me asap. Then I will press the button

KWhit 02-28-2006 12:36 PM

Diggity.

Bonegavel 02-28-2006 01:20 PM

This should be fun. Not as much fun as the MF thread, but fun in its own way.

SirFozzie 02-28-2006 01:47 PM

If anyone's hom, I'd be willing to play (I slipped and fell on some ice, my leg is all kindsa interesting colors, so I have somew more ice on it now_)

Katon 02-28-2006 02:13 PM

You still there, Foz? If so, I'm up for a game. I've got a free team now - the Chaos bunch that Anxiety played - so this time the match can actually count.

Plus, since they've only played one game, it should actually be a fair match.

SirFozzie 02-28-2006 03:33 PM

I'm here now.. let me know if still interested

SirFozzie 02-28-2006 06:21 PM

ok.. still waiting on astrosfan, but when he gets his two teams to me to approved (and accepts the invites with those two plus the third I'mwaiting for), or midnight, whatever happens first, we'll be on our way.

astrosfan64 02-28-2006 07:35 PM

Venom Strike is my 2nd team.

astrosfan64 02-28-2006 07:39 PM

BrokenAxe is my 3rd team. Waiting for approval then invites.

SirFozzie 02-28-2006 07:43 PM

Done. as soon as you accept.. we begin

KWhit 02-28-2006 07:48 PM

Cool. I'll be around tonight if anybody wants their 1st league win.
