No worries, I'll grab some pickup games in Ranked and catch the next one.

Kill some stunties for me. :D

I think the gobbos are effectively AV6 due to stunty...

The Ogres are not as bashy as you would think though. However, once they get up in experience, I think they could wind up being overpowered as well.

they are aV7 , but when you break it they get the +1 to injury rolls, so they're more fragile

That's what I was thinking of, I knew they got a +1 somewhere...

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 04:34 PM

Playing Airhog now. Have made about 10-15 2db's. 4 of em were double skulls (1 was RR'd, the other three ended turns)

Edit: And we're in turn 4.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 05:21 PM

GG Anxiety

I am now free for further games :)

Airhog 03-03-2006 06:17 PM

umm, you didnt play me

I havent played a game yet, although I am up for one in just a bit if anyone wants

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 06:25 PM

Duh.. :) Fixed that

Airhog 03-03-2006 06:28 PM

I am hoping to get another team approved to test out the game with, but I am not sure if it will happen very fast

Katon 03-03-2006 06:34 PM

I'm around if anyone wants to play.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 06:46 PM

KatonL I'd offer Skaven/Dark Elf, but dinner's arriving shortly (pizza), plus your Delvies are getting beaten the farooq up. If I even thoughtr about Dwarves/Delfs you'd come through the computer and smack me :D

Definitely. The team's actually in pretty good shape for having only nine people - a lot of people either at or near their first skill - but til I get the numbers back up I'm going to stick to easier/less bashy opponents for them (read: NO RAT OGRES ALLOWED!).

Airhog 03-03-2006 06:59 PM

Hmm, and my one team in the league is dwarf :D

Katon 03-03-2006 07:05 PM

I wouldn't mind playing dwarves with my undead team. Just not the Dark Elves, at least not at the moment.

WVUFAN 03-03-2006 07:12 PM

Will anyone be available to play this weekend? I'd love to get a few games in.

Katon 03-03-2006 07:23 PM

I don't have anything in particular going on this weekend (apart from starting to study for midterms, but that's not a major issue yet), so I'm certainly going to be available to play. I'm not planning to sit at my computer for two days straight, but I should be around a fair bit - it's too cold to go outside much.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 07:38 PM

I'm available for games tonight

110 Skaven, 113 Dwarves and 114 Elves

Airhog 03-03-2006 07:49 PM

Well, I was able to spectate a nice game earlier. I think I have the general idea of the game anyways. Once my orc team is approved, I am going to play a game for fun. May be tomorrow night though, since I dont know how long this is gonna take

Airhog 03-03-2006 07:50 PM

okay, my orcs were approved, anyone up for non-league match?

Katon 03-03-2006 07:52 PM

I'm also available. 98 Dark Elves (this offer void for overly bashy teams/experienced coaches), 110 High Elves, and 112 Undead.

Airhog 03-03-2006 07:55 PM

okay, I launched a game on fumbbl. Game name is FOFC

Katon 03-03-2006 08:05 PM

This is with the non-league team?

Airhog 03-03-2006 08:07 PM

yes, it is with my new orc team which is 100/97

Katon 03-03-2006 08:09 PM

Right. Launched with my non-league team (Chaos).

KWhit 03-03-2006 08:18 PM

I'm around if anyone wants to play a league game.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 08:25 PM

KWhit, I'm around, let me know who you want to play and with what, (and/or start the game, or let me know to start it)

KWhit 03-03-2006 08:32 PM

Ok. I've opened up a game.

Game name is kwhit

I don't care who you pit against me cause you'll beat them anyway - I'm using my human team.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 09:06 PM

think we're gonna have to restart KWhit

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 09:07 PM

game name: foz

Airhog 03-03-2006 09:07 PM

Well, that was fun, but man do I suck badly. I need to read the rules again. I think that was my bigget mistake.

Katon 03-03-2006 09:10 PM

You weren't that bad, actually, apart from the whole protecting-the-passer thing. Just remember: NEVER leave the ball-carrier by himself in your half. Not unless you're completely sure none of the opposing players can get to you.

Fix that problem, and it's a 1-0 game.

KWhit 03-03-2006 09:10 PM

You and I need to play (just restarted a game with Foz) - sounds like we are equally not-so-good.

Airhog 03-03-2006 09:15 PM

I misjudged that second to last move before you scored to make it 4-0. I planned to hail mary the ball, and go for broke. I should have counted out the moves, to make sure you couldnt reach me...

Abe Sargent 03-03-2006 09:19 PM

GG SF, I couldn't talk earlier because I was hosting Magic Night, but people just left and I wanted to make sure that you had my condolences on my thrashing of your jinky little elf team 3-0 at the hands of my brutal Chaos Dwarf team :)

I KEEL YOU NOW!

Oh wait, no I won't.. I'd just roll double skulls again :P

Katon 03-03-2006 09:28 PM

The third one also, where you had a lineman in space down the flank and you could've thrown it to him. Not that he was any better protected, but a loose ball in my half beats a loose ball in your half.

Katon 03-03-2006 09:47 PM

Also, if anyone feels like a league game, I'm still around.

Abe Sargent 03-03-2006 09:47 PM

Just finished a late dinner. Triple cheeseburger from Mr. Pizza - a quarter pound of beef, three cheeses and it's amazingly yumtastic. In the wake of my feast, I am sated by but willing to sit here and play another game of BB if anybody wants some....

I was referring to the Elves vs the specific Elf teams. Cheaper by 10k, but with 7 AVs. Ick.

Sure. Undead, or High Elves?

I play Magic: the Gathering. In Magic, this is known as the "mana screw whine." It's when someone didn't draw enough lands and died without being able to cast their best spells. This is the mana screw whine of Blood Bowl I suppose. :)

Tell em' about my bad luck. I rolled three dice and got two skulls and a double skull on a big guy, so no reroll. I also started the game with half my team stunned from a crowd invasion when only one of his players went down.

I do have one question. What is the extra bit on the die? These dice are six sided, right? There's only five results, so which one is printed twice? My guess is the push back arrow, but I don't know for sure.

-Anxiety

Katon 03-03-2006 10:02 PM

Yeah, it's pushback.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 10:02 PM

yup, there are two pushes on the dice

1: POW (defender pushed back/ Knocked over)
2: PUSHBACK/POW (Defender pushed back knocked over unless he has dodge (tackle negates)
3-4: PUSHBACK
5: POW/SKULL (Both Down unless has block)
6: SKULL (Attacker Down)

EDIT: Personally, I'd prefer to get a game in with my Darkies, but I understand if you want a slower team to play.

Katon 03-03-2006 10:05 PM

Not particularly. I've launched a game, FOFC2; show up with whoever you want.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 10:44 PM

GG KWhit, you're learning fast :)

KWhit 03-03-2006 10:48 PM

Thanks Foz. That was fun. Your tips have really helped out.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 10:51 PM

Hey, as long as both sides have fun. (BTW, I resisted the urge to freeboot the Deathroller for the next game :D))

Abe Sargent 03-03-2006 11:10 PM

Katon blasted my Darkies 3-0 and I have a major injury to one of my linemen - lost a strength and out for the next game.

-Anxiety

Katon 03-03-2006 11:13 PM

My undead are coming along nicely. Two mummies now, after spending my winnings, and one of my wights rolled a strength upgrade. Don't play us if you're afraid to get hit :).

Abe Sargent 03-03-2006 11:38 PM

Undeadish teams are now 4-0 in the league, with Katon's recent win.

I may be up for a game later this afternoon. Need to read up on some strategy

Katon 03-04-2006 12:03 PM

I'm about to head off to lunch, but once I get back I should be up for a game.

SirFozzie 03-04-2006 01:06 PM

GG Glengoyne. You doiminated my linerats, but Gutter Runners and the StormVermin, KillFleas, ruled the day :)

Airhog 03-04-2006 01:10 PM

If someone is up for a game now let me know. I am ready to play a league match :)

Glengoyne 03-04-2006 01:11 PM

Man that was a challenging game. Fozzie's late first half and early second half heroics won the day. My Humans couldn't equalize.

I think the real story of this game is that Fozzie out coached me. He forced the action or he left the board in situations where I had to gamble a little to make a play. I might have been able to equalize in the end, but I got hurried and tried to play "rat-ball" with him. I should have been more patient. Oh and Killfleas was a machine. I shoulda fouled him when I had the chance.

Katon 03-04-2006 01:12 PM

Sure. Game launched, name FOFC. Giving my Dark Elves another runout, since they really need a TR100 opponent at the moment.

*laughs* it was fun, both sides were never out of stopping scores, the otherside always had to earn it. I almost got the GR catch to help him when I need a two turn score, but I got him Sure Feet instead, making him basically a 11 MA player :)

BTW, when Skaven need to score in two turns your were playing way too far foward.. you need to nearly be on your goal line, that way you can attack the Receivers , rather then let them pick a hole on one side, and blitz on the other side.

Tactic 1: Foul the StormVermin whenever possible? :)

Airhog 03-04-2006 02:18 PM

Well Katon beat me 2-0 this time, but I thought I played a much better game. 3 mistakes really hurt me. 1. I got a bit confused at the beginning of the game, and really set my guys up poorly. 2. Fouling you near the end of the first half, and getting ejected was a stupid move. 3. I shouldnt have advanced my ball carrier in the second half, after I picked it up, that was the difference between a 2-0 defeat, and a 1-0 defeat I thought.

Bastard did crush one of my dwarves pelvis bones. Lost a movement point, which means he has to seriously worry about moss growing on him. :D

Katon 03-04-2006 02:20 PM

For the first time in league history, the Dogslayers have made it through an entire match without any of their players getting killed. Another match like that and we may be able to finally get back to eleven players.

Ironically, despite the horrible injury luck they haven't actually lost yet.

Airhog 03-04-2006 02:21 PM

Now, I made 80k from that match. Im thinking the best thing for me to do is buy another player, but I think I should keep the guy that got hurt and use him as a backup. One slow guy is better than nobody :D

KWhit 03-04-2006 02:23 PM

Hey, he's a Longbeard. He wasn't going anywhere even when he was healthy. Just stand still and get beat on, that's his job.

Moving the ball carrier didn't help on the second TD - if I remember right, he wound up on the near (from my perspective) side of a couple of your players, which was why I was able to hit him - but that was a pretty wierd sequence of play. I'm not sure I was making the proper play charging my ball carrier off the turn before that; I just really didn't want to get the ball caught in another midfield melee after all the work I'd done to clear the last one.

That's why I spent so much of the second half not standing him up - if he got up, he was just going to get shoved off the pitch anyway.

The thing is, dwarves' nastiest trait from a hurting-people perspective is that about half the team comes with Tackle. Since none of my players have Dodge at the moment, that was completely irrelevant.

SirFozzie 03-04-2006 03:24 PM

SirFozzie 03-04-2006 03:55 PM

GG Katon, the draw flatters me.

SirFozzie 03-04-2006 03:56 PM

WOOHOO! Jab gets +ST!

Katon 03-04-2006 03:57 PM

Not really. For most of the second half my offence was basically launching long bombs and praying. Worked once, but if it had come off a second time I'd've been really lucky. And you came pretty close to getting the winner with that Gutter Runner.

Airhog 03-04-2006 04:17 PM

Well another crushing defeat. I tried to cage the ball carrier in the second half but that fell apart around turn 5. Never count on the dice roll to help ya out. :D

KWhit 03-04-2006 04:18 PM

That was fun Airhog. Good game. I got lucky on that last TD.

SirFozzie 03-04-2006 04:20 PM

I might be up for one more game in a bit :)

Glengoyne 03-04-2006 04:20 PM

I'll hold off for a rookie-ish team. My ego is fragile, and I think I can only take one beating from each coach per day.

Now that's the kind of offer I can't refuse. Fozzie schooled me earlier today. He crowded at least four of my humans. I'll break out the Blitz(Chaos Dwarves) or My Wood Elves.

Hmmm since I got called into work on my Day off, I'm in a bashy Mood. So probably the Chaos Dwarves.
