GG Bonegavel. Althougha bit of a hint. Some coaches will find fouling after its impossible for you to win or score in the last round or two of a game to be unsportsmanlike. I don;t care that much, but just as fyi. It's like a nuclear bomb. Once you use it, you'd better be prepared for massive retaliation.

Understood and thanks. Thought I'd give it a try and see what it did. Didn't seem to do anything. Had 5 guys out of the game; yummy.

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 08:17 PM

I would've expected you to foul eariler. I took out so many of your players with casualties, that I thought you'd try and balance the scales.

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 08:36 PM

Ok I'm home. Who Wants Some? :D

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 08:37 PM

BTW, everyone should be at 8.5 Please check that, because I think you ran into this "Do not play using different client versions. The site will not accept your results if you do."

Katon 03-01-2006 08:38 PM

I'm at 8.5, and ready to play with either of my other teams.

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 08:44 PM

Im at 8.5 too.

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 08:46 PM

Elf vs Dark Elf Ok with you, Katon?

BTW, I'm talking to the FUMBBLAdmins in their channel

Katon 03-01-2006 08:46 PM

Works for me.

And thanks.

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 08:49 PM

Up as FOFC, and looks like you should submit a trouble ticket asap:

(SirFozzie) Hey folks, I'm a league administrator, and two of my rookie coaches played a game that they had connection problems on, and the files seem to differ, one has trouble getting to IRC. Do they have to file a report?
(Mezir) they should come here themselves to sort it out
(SirFozzie) one can't. That's why I did it. :)
(Mezir) then he should submit a support ticket
(SirFozzie) Ok
(SirFozzie) I will let the player know to submit it, AFK, so that game can be entered.

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 08:59 PM

Bonegavel, also submit a report asap so you can free up your team please?

Katon 03-01-2006 09:01 PM

Support ticket has been submitted

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:12 PM

It's been fixed :)

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:14 PM

DAMNIT!

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:17 PM

That Heron Swift, he could be a good one... :D

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:28 PM

Frickin doubleskulls

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:39 PM

Nerves of Steel he has :)

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 09:45 PM

Sucks ta lose someone this early.

-Anxiety

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:45 PM

Good Game. I thought my misclick at the end had cost me.

Elf Catchers ARE SICK. 2+ Catch always rules :)

Katon 03-01-2006 09:46 PM

Good game. Draw was a fair result.

Just wish I'd handled the situation at the end of the first half better - tried to set up a chance for a second TD, wound up conceding and having a lineman killed.

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:49 PM

yeah, that hurts.

BTW, you have skills pending on your necro team.

Heron Swift got the skill Dodge. *grins*.. I figure he's GOOD at that huh?

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 09:49 PM

No I don't.

-Anxiety

Katon 03-01-2006 09:50 PM

I think he might've meant my High Elf team, in which case they've been selected. Got a double on one of the linemen, too (Guard!)

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 09:51 PM

Nice.

Usually, If I'm feeling like I'm in a bashing league, I'll take block/dodge as my first two skills. Pisses folks off no end.

Then Side Step if I can.

Then I pray for guard.

*(then the opposing player starts bringing out the DP*)

Katon 03-01-2006 09:53 PM

Now there's just the problem of finding an opponent who won't squish me since both elven teams are down to ten for the next match. Ah well, that's the downside of playing with elves.

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 09:57 PM

I think that we are in a well rounded league.

Elves: 7 (out of 23) - that's very finesse right there
Humies and Orcs 6 (out of 23) - In the middle. 3 lean Bash (Orcs and Norse) 3 lean finesse (normal Humans)
Skaven 1 - Finesse
Dwarvish Teams 4 (2 each Chaos and Normal) - Bashy
Ogre 1 - It's a new team, but I assume Bashy
Chaos, Necro, Undead: 4 - In middle leaning Bash

Sub-Total:

Finesse: 8
Bash: 5
Middle Leaning Bash: 7
Middle Leaning Finesse: 3

Total Bash: 13
Total Finesse: 10

That's my quick estimation.

I have Dark Elves, Necro and Chaos Dwarf ready to go. You'd probably want to steer clear of my CDs, and running elf on elf when you are down an elf is no good. My Necro team is down a werewolf with an injury and is playing an extra Zombie. That might be your style.

-Anxiety

Katon 03-01-2006 10:01 PM

Okay. You want to set that up?

Or if you want to try the Dwarves, I do have an undead team that hasn't seen any action yet.

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 10:01 PM

I Want to run my Necro so I can get my wolf out of injury after the next game. It is set yup pw is FOFC.

-Anxiety

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 10:04 PM

if anyone else is around, I'm willing for one more.

Raven Hawk 03-01-2006 10:57 PM

Doh! I seemed to miss this thread. The game sounds interesting. I understand that its too late to join (I'd be a noob anyway), but is there any plan on reopening the league to players after the first season?

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 11:02 PM

yup, Raven, this "Season" will have about six weeks. But I'd recommend you download the client, create a couple teams and we can do some non-league games to show you how to play.. so you'll be ready for the next tournament (after the Dungeon Bowl Finals)

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 11:09 PM

I defeated Katon's High Elves and got a kill - raising my first Zombie.

-Anxiety

Abe Sargent 03-01-2006 11:11 PM

I rolled +movement for my Wight. Take it, or choose a skill instead? I'm not sure, so I decide to go with the movement bonus.

Said dead guy then went on to be named my MVP.

But I replaced him with a better player and my Dragon Warrior got a +MA, so if I can just get an apothecary soon then the team's actually coming along fairly well.

SirFozzie 03-01-2006 11:24 PM

Depends on what the roll was, if it was 6/4, Take the MA Bonus.

If it was double 5, then that's any skill (other then mutations and such).. lotsafun choices in THAT lot.

Bonegavel 03-02-2006 09:11 AM

I really really suck at this game, but, like golf, I am really really enjoying it. I'll probably be somewhat up-to-snuff by the end of the season and hopefully there will be another soon after that.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:27 AM

The 2nd Season will see teams play for the SPIKE! Magazine Trophy (3rd will be the Chaos Cup, and the fourth will be for the granddady of em all, The Blood Bowl)

But I'll also be around earlier than that and would like to get a game in beforehand if anyone else is interested.

KWHIT, I should be on earlier then that also. But, I always say 9:00 Central incase the wife has me giving her some "time" before I get on my computer. Or if, for some reason my daughter wants me to put her to bed. Usually, I'm at 8:00 Central time though.

Do you know what you are doing? Because, I don't have a clue.

I have played 2 practice games, so I have an idea of the basics. Have you read through the rulebook yet? I assume you have since you created your teams, but if not, it's in the 1st post of the thread.

The other thing that is very important for beginners to understand is that you must make your easiest moves first (the ones that don't require dice rolls) because once you miss a dice roll your turn is over.

prolly wouldn't hurt to make a scrub team and play a few rounds with one of our scrub teams to simply get the flow down. You won't understand the strategy from a few sittings, but you at least will know how to setup, when to click what... etc.

Abe Sargent 03-02-2006 05:12 PM

I ordered Dinner. After it arrives and I have consumed it, I can play if anyone is up for it.

Katon 03-02-2006 05:27 PM

I have to leave for choir rehearsal soon, but after that's over (about 9:00) I'm free. Seems like that's when most people will be getting ready to play anyway.

I understand how to play BB. I just don't understand the league/java part. Other then that I should be good to go.

Then you shouldn't have many problems. The java client that we use does all of the die rolling for you, so it makes it much simpler, although you should still know the rolls and rules and whatnot so you can know what the statistics are before performing a move.

If I block your piece and get a knock over result, the client will roll the armor roll to see if the player is damaged, the injury roll if he is, and the casuality roll if one is rolled, all in less than a second. Makes playing the game much quicker.

KWhit 03-02-2006 07:34 PM

I'm around now, astrofan, for when you want a game.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 08:33 PM

yo, I'm home. Who wants some, and what do you want?

Katon 03-02-2006 08:45 PM

I'm around. Wouldn't mind giving my undead a run out, but I think my poor Dark Elves could use a slightly softer opponent (since your least bashy team still managed to kill one and knock another out of their next game).

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 08:45 PM

V Skaven then? (if not, and anyone else wants to step in, let me know)

Katon 03-02-2006 08:47 PM

Works for me.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 08:48 PM

game will be FOFCBB (now ready)

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 08:49 PM

BTW, I am off Friday and Saturday so if any late nighters want a game, I'll be available :)

Katon 03-02-2006 08:51 PM

Here we go. Quite possibly the biggest speed imbalance in the entire game.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:01 PM

Shit. forgot you can't take a handoff only give one now

KWhit 03-02-2006 09:11 PM

If astrofan doesn't show soon, would someone else be up for a game?

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:14 PM

Kwhit, once mine is done I'll play ya ;)

KWhit 03-02-2006 09:28 PM

That might be a little late for me.

Anxiety, wanna play a game?

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:29 PM

Frakin DICE!

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:31 PM

we're already in the 2nd half, we play fast ;)

astrosfan64 03-02-2006 09:33 PM

This is atrofan's wife...

He is on his way home from a business meeting. He is sorry he couldn't make your game.

and
He is sorry he made me post this.

KWhit 03-02-2006 09:46 PM

Sigh.

Foz, are you guys almost done?

Abe Sargent 03-02-2006 09:50 PM

Sorry I wasn't around, I was reading in my bathtub :)

-Anxiety

Katon 03-02-2006 09:51 PM

Done. 1-0 to the dead guys :)

Mostly because Foz missed an easy handoff while he was going for the equalizer, but hey, they all count.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:51 PM

Just finished. 1-0 loss, and I won't use the dice as an excuse, he beat me.

Nice money game though, we each earned 90K

I think I will use as much of it as possible for torture devices for a certain Skaven Slave turned Linerat!

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:51 PM

Ok, I have 3 teams. Elves (106), Skaven (around 111) and Dwarves (100)

Pick and I'll set it up, anyone.

KWhit 03-02-2006 09:52 PM

Who wants some of me?!

I'm beginning to think people are scared to play me.

:)

KWhit 03-02-2006 09:52 PM

Dwarves.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 09:54 PM

astrosfan64 03-02-2006 09:57 PM

Just got home from my business meeting are you wanting a game?

BTW Sorry Kwhitt, my boss said he had to go out with this guy from Canada tonight. He is going back tomorrow and we didn't have our meeting during the day. So, I had to sit in Chilles and eat food, while we discussed the differences between our website and our canadian counterpart.

BORING

Katon 03-02-2006 09:59 PM

I'm up for a game. Dark Elves (just ten of them), Undead, or High Elves?

astrosfan64 03-02-2006 10:06 PM

I'll play what do I need to do on my end. Just hit play game from the fumbbl site?

Katon 03-02-2006 10:07 PM

Hit play next to the team you want to use, then enter game name as FOFC1 and launch as client.

astrosfan64 03-02-2006 10:12 PM

ok i'm in, good luck and have fun. I'm sure I will go down hard. Can we chat in the client?

Katon 03-02-2006 11:08 PM

Well, the game's over. The Dogslayers win 3-0, but at the cost of two more dead linemen. I've gone and bought an apothecary to stem the bleeding; in the meantime, beginning coaches looking for an easy opponent, this is where you go. Now down to nine players.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 11:13 PM

Ouch Katon.

So, I guess a dogslayer Dwarf game is out of the question? *ducks, teasing*

astrosfan64 03-02-2006 11:18 PM

That was good learning experience. Is there a place where the icons for the java client are described? Nice game Katon.

SirFozzie 03-02-2006 11:21 PM

I can answer what you need to know astros.

Dwarfs beat the Orcs, 2-0, but at least KWhit learned a LOT (even at the cost of a dead Gobbo) :D.. and the best part... the Dwarves earned a shit pot of money, 100K!

WVUFAN 03-03-2006 03:09 AM

If anyone is still up, I'd be up for a game.

Bonegavel 03-03-2006 10:36 AM

I am going out of state tonight and won't be back until late sunday (Glad I got 2 games in all ready).

Just an FYI in case anyone wants a quick win and PMs me or something and I don't answer.

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 10:48 AM

Warhammer 03-03-2006 02:41 PM

Someone was assuming the Ogres were bashy, believe it or not, they are only as good as their gobbos. They also tend to be an all or nothing team with the gobbos being flung far and wide.

Also, beware of the Elf team (not HE, WE, or DE), some players think they are VERY overpowered.

Wolvendancer 03-03-2006 02:49 PM

Well, it seems Blood Bowl has the power to bring out even the most secluded lurkers.

The Sincity Baneclaws (say it quickly) are approved and ready to go, Fozzie. Any low-TR teams ready for a go? I haven't played in almost two years, so it'll take a bit for me to shake the rust off.

Unfortunately, the tourney's already begun, let me see if I can add you in

SirFozzie 03-03-2006 03:09 PM

damnit, can't add you in, can invite you to the group, but that would be no good as all the teams are in the tourney and can't play non tourney teams.

I know there's non-league teams available, give you a chance to knock off the ring rust though, Wolvedancer
