I so wanted to reply to it, but held back...

These people need to understand they are running a BUSINESS. That they are making promises to CUSTOMERS. The product their BUSINESS has promised to deliver is about 3 years late. It is absurd to expect civility at more delays. They have no perspective on this issue whatsoever.

Not to mention all the slams coming from her husband against text sim developers...

I feel a bit sorry for Shaun Sullivan in all of this. Hopefully people won't equate Maximum Football with his baseball game, which actually does work and is a fine game. since they are both published by the same outfit.

why does anyone care though? the humor in this has eluded me since like page 12 or so. the game is obviously not gonna be worth anyone's time, not sure why people are taking off of work for this crap and crying about it.

me too. the usual was to set the guys up once, turn it on, stare at them for a few minutes and then leave it out on the floor for days until someone yelled at me to clean it up.

So what I take from this post is that it's better than a couple football games from 95-96 although doesn't have as deep of a career mode...and the beta tester seems to really struggle with the English language.

Ised to line up my players in a 3x3 block with the extra players on the front end and the ball carrier in the middle of the mass. There was no way to stop that brutal running game, and thank goodness my big brother didn't care about actual football rules.

I tried to make a Christmas tree formation or something. I also held the quarterback up to eye level to try and throw the ball.

My favorite was to put stuff on top of the field and turn the knob so everything rattled.

If you tried to run the statue of liberty play you would just vibrate out of bounds for a loss.

I think you had to put up a barrier between Off/Def, set up your play, then remove the barrier and turn on the juice.

The lifting of the piece of paper (or whatever you used) was always a great moment.

Over on the MFer forum, the main dude is telling the nay-sayers to wait until the game is released before being critical. No wonder the game isn't out yet.

That's what I got from it. He forgot to mention that he hasn't played Madden, any 2k game, or FOF because anything released after 1999 doesn't count :)

It's amazing they are going to release football game that doesn't have FOF play design capabilities and doesn't limit itself to an NFL style league. I don't know what they are thinking. It would be horrible if anyone tried to do anything different than what is already available.

Aha!!! It isn't because of box art, adding a career mode, lack of programming resources, insanely ambitious release dates, or just plain stupidity that the game hasn't been release yet. It is because of the tone of the posts around here. Maybe if we change our tone the game will be completed faster. Maybe if we had a positive tone all along it only would have taken 4 years for someone to publish a decent non-text football sim.

If I had to say yesterday one thing that this thread lacked, it would be a YTMND set to Benny Hill music. I am changing my opinion from "the game may get released some day" to "never getting released." Even at this hour (especially when the matrix web site has the words "Release Date : February 15, 2006" next to the game).

Matrix is going to get this elusive Gold Master and realize there is no game here. I think it will turn out to be, at most, a hobbist play tool (an excercise in 3d modelling, if you will).

Matrix Games has published a lot of good titles over the years and I don't see any way that this game can be up to their standards.

I actually liked that one. The only problem I had with it was you had no baseline to go off of as far as contracts go and it was really easy to hose your team.

Well, I guess it's a perfect marriage. What if he didn't fake his own death, but was framed by Matrix, and had to go into hiding, because he knew all the beta secrets ...

I still can't believe this game is $40. While I realize that the game is customizable (to some extent), there is no career play, no draft options, trading, etc. If you are going to spend that much money on a game, I would suggest getting Madden 2005 from the bargain bin (about $5 to $10 dependeping on where you buy it). If you want to do Pop Warner, you could buy Backyard Football for about $15 and last year's EA college title can be found in the bargain bin as well.

At max, you would be spending $35 dollars and have a much deeper playing experience than this. But maybe it is just me.

I guess I left out that whole Canadian rules football. Maybe that is the only drawback.

You know, I think I'm going to play EA Sports Arena Football right now. It's actual Arena Football, not "indoor football" like Maximum Football is supposed to have.

How can it be that whenever a game is about to be released (or alledgedly), there are those so dying to get it that they lose all sense of perspective and use of brain cells. We've seen this in every single forum out there. Is it some cartel of immature morons that goes around and posts that if they don't get the game NOWw, they will blow up the world? There can't be that many morons out there, can there?
