The BCS Bowls are finally here! With the games kicking off today, I have decided to have a little bit of fun with NCAA 10 Football and sim the five match-ups and present the results here. These sims were conducted on mostly default settings with the re-rated rosters done by OSer dkrause1971.
Fed Ex Orange Bowl
#9 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. #10 Iowa Hawkeyes
This game belonged to the Hawkeyes from start to finish, as they defeated the ACC champs 21-6. Ricky Stanzi threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns, even though he only completed 12 of 35 passes. He also added 43 yards on the ground. Josh Nesbitt completed 19 of 33 passes with a lone interception. Jonathon Dwyer was held without a score, gaining 95 yards on 37 carries.
Rose Bowl
#7 Oregon Ducks vs. #8 Ohio State Buckeyes
After trailing 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, Terrelle Pryor carried the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 28-16 victory. Pryor threw for two touchdowns and ran for another one. DeVier Posey caught four balls for 97 yards and the two touchdowns. LaMichael James had 114 yards on 28 carries. Jeremiah Masoli went 20 of 34 for 222 yards, two touchdowns and one interception
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
#4 TCU Horned Frogs vs. #6 Boise State Broncos
TCU was out to prove they belonged in the National Championship game in their game against Boise State. The Horned Frogs blew out the Broncos 31-10. Kellen Moore went without a touchdown pass for the first time this season. The Broncos only garnered 205 yards in the game. TCU’s Andrew Dalton threw for three touchdown passes and ran in two more, easily cementing him as the player of the game. The defense also haunted Moore with seven sacks on the night, four of them from Jerry Hughes.
Allstate Sugar Bowl
#3 Cincinatti Bearcats vs. #5 Florida Gators
In a game filled with the hype of Brian Kelley moving onto to Notre Dame and Tim Tebow’s final collegiate game alongside the Urban Meyer drama, it did not disappoint. It was not Tebow who led the Gators to victory, instead it was kicker Caleb Sturgis who hit all five of his field goal attempts, including the game winner in overtime to defeat the Bearcats 21-18. Tony Pike led a miraculous drive to tie the game up with one minute left in regulation, but he could not pull out the victory as Cincinnati missed the game tying kick in the extra period. Armon Binns caught 15 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
BCS National Championship
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. #2 Texas Longhorns
The contest was a defensive battle for both teams, being tied at 7 apiece going into the final quarter. The Tide’s defense flinched first. Colt McCoy connected on two touchdown passes with Jordan Shipley in the final quarter of the game, leading Texas to the 21-10 victory and the national championship. Greg McElroy threw three interceptions in the game, ultimately dooming the Tide at their quest for another national championship. Mark Ingram ran for 114 yards and a late touchdown. Shipley had 87 recieving yards to go with his two touchdowns.
There you have it folks. Each game came out with some surprises, but I’m sure the real life counter parts will be just as exciting. How do you see the BCS Bowls shaping up?
