FIFA 09 Ultimate Team – Celebrations, Customization, and Team Managers

There are 20 new gamer celebrations in FIFA 09 Ultimate Team and we purposely made them more over the top than usual. They are all unlockable when the appropriate card is obtained .There are some really entertaining ones including numerous new dances, back flips and even a break-dance.

Customization

One of the areas we really wanted to focus on in FIFA 09 Ultimate Team was customization. There is far more ability to customize a player in FIFA 09 Ultimate Team compared to FIFA. There are thousands of different cards that can be used to customize your created player. You can apply any of the hundred of neck, arm, and leg or even face tattoos, including tattoos of team logos.. You can wear one of over 200 bandanas and there are even some extreme hair styles in amongst the cards.

In addition to the visual side of dressing up your player you can also train up your created player by astute use of the training cards. He’s one of the higher rated players in the starter pack and you’ll quickly be able to train him up to a Silver player. If you want to develop him through to gold, you’ll need to find training cards to boost his attributes. Where you decide to play him will dictate the kind of training you should focus on. All training cards have a positive boost and a lesser negative value, e.g. Shooting +9, Defending – 1, so if you play him as a striker, you shouldn’t worry too much about training his defensive abilities. Be sure to use the trading area to look for training cards and you’ll soon be able to grow your created player into a gold superstar.

You’ll see more focus on your created player if you keep him as your captain. You’ll see him in the opening introduction and many of the cut scenes, but the ultimate goal is to see him lifting the trophy! Score with him and perform one of the 20 new gamer celebrations to really show him off against your opponent.

Managers

Managers impact team chemistry in a couple of ways. Formation is the most important. If you have a manager whose preferred formation is the one you play, you’ll receive a chemistry boost. Additionally, if that formation matches any of your players' preferred formations, you’ll also receive a boost. Nationality also factors in. Have a manager whose nationality matches your starting 11 players, and you’ll receive a further chemistry boost. Find the right manager and you can greatly increase your chemistry in just one move!

You will also need a manager to unlock Custom Team Tactics. Each manager has a tactical rating that will allow the use of the custom tactic feature. Get one of the higher rated managers and you’ll be able to utilize them all. Additionally there are ‘Advanced Tactic Training Cards’ that when played on your manager will unlock the applicable custom tactic, so even if your manager doesn’t have them all, there are cards in the deck that allow them to be unlocked.
