Adam Morrison Q&A Session
New Page 2

We have just posted a Q&A session with Adam Morrison, cover athlete for NCAA March Madness 07.

What’s the transition like between college and the NBA?

I would say that in the NBA there is a lot more business stuff off the court, a lot more film work, meetings and team meals. Stuff like that. On the court the biggest difference is the speed of game with the 24 second clock and transitioning from offense to defense.

How would you describe your role as a player for the Charlotte Bobcats and are you comfortable with that role?

The organization believes that I can score the basketball so my role is to provide the team with some perimeter scoring. I’ve always been a scorer and that’s my role.

What do you feel you need to work on the most in your game, in order to be a better NBA player?

I guess I have to work on getting stronger and on my defense.

What do you like to do around Charlotte in your free time?

I have a couple of Xbox 360s in the house and a regular Xbox. I have a couple of HD TVs and surround sound so it is pretty nice and that’s what I like to do. I just like to relax and play games. If we go on a 3 or 4 day road trip I usually bring my 360 and I’ll get a little time in. I also carry a PSP so. I’m looking forward to downloading March Madness 07 from Xbox Marketplace and checking it out because that’s my game.

Any rookie hazing from the veterans?

The rookie stuff comes with every team but it is not as bad here. I kind of lucked out because it is not as bad here because everyone is really young. We don’t have some of those mean old grizzly veterans that other teams have so it has been alright so far.

How involved is Michael Jordan with the team?

He has been around a little bit. We’ve seen him after games and it has been nice to talk to him. He’s the greatest player of all-time and one of the greatest competitors of all time so having him around is something special.

Do you feel that March Madness accurately portrays the high energy and the enthusiasm of college basketball?

Home court advantage is what college basketball is all about and putting raucous crowds into the game and capturing that atmosphere is pretty cool. I was lucky playing at Gonzaga. I got used to playing in front of large crowds so it doesn’t really affect me. Going on the road was also pretty fun for me and I have just kind of gotten used to playing in hostile places. I like it. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out in March Madness 07 – how the crowds impact the players on the floor. Different people react differently to certain situations. A lot has to do with the players and their experience so I think EA is on the right track with this feature.

How do you like NCAA March Madness 07? What’s the best feature?

I’m really looking forward to the X-factor thing with the crowd because I think home court advantage really does make a difference in college basketball. So I’m looking forward to seeing what they did with Gonzaga and the crowd there because we have the longest home winning streak in the nation and I want to see what they’ve done with the Kennel in the game. I know first hand that place has rattled a few opposition players so we’ll see how it plays out in the game.

What was going through your mind when you were selected as the cover athlete?

It is pretty cool to have the Bobcats on the cover three years in a row. It’s an honor to be chosen because I have grown up playing the game. When I get back from this road trip I’m going to download a demo of the game from Xbox Live Marketplace.

Will there be classic teams from the past, such as the first "Cinderella" Gonzaga Team from 1999, as well as your strong team from last year with you and JP Batista?

I’m not sure if the classic teams are in the game or not but that shouldn’t stop people from playing as Gonzaga. We are America’s team -- the ultimate Cinderella

What did you do with the game's design team? Did you make suggestions or see the game at different stages during its production? Were you a part of any new innovations in the game?

I don’t make the game I just get to go on the cover but I like the features they have added this year. When they asked me what I thought the biggest differences were between the NBA and college basketball I told them the atmosphere and intensity of college basketball is way different and the college game is a lot more strategic. On the college game you can do a lot more strategic stuff – zones and presses. You don’t see too many teams in the NBA do that so that’s what makes the two games so different.

What are some of your favorite video games both all time and currently?

I play NBA Live and Madden but the game I really like is FIFA 07. I’ve never been a soccer fan and I’ve never liked watching soccer but my friend put me on to it and it is a lot of fun. I haven’t been able to put it down since. I’ll challenge anyone who thinks they can play FIFA because I think I’m the best in the world.

Does anyone else on the team like to play video games, and if so, what are the locker room games of choice?

We are all young guys on the team so we all play videogames. We play Tiger on PSP. We play FIFA and some Live and we are all looking forward to playing March Madness. I think what we are going to have to do when March Madness comes out is get me, Felton and Okafor together to determine who the best cover athlete player is. That would be fun.
