Hey guys, it’s Robby from Two Brothers Gaming again here with some more NBA 2K16 My Team Throwback Thursday card reviews! Every week in NBA 2K16’s My Team mode, there are Throwback Thursday cards released with specific players’ highlight seasons. Each week here on Operation Sports, I’ll be highlighting these players and showing you stats, badges, individual attributes, and everything related to each player. If you pull one of these cards, you’ll know what to do with them! Don’t forget to watch the accompanying video review as well.
**NOTE-This is the past few weeks’ worth of TBT players, with the older cards appearing last.**
Let’s get into it:
2008 Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics-- 96 overall
ANOTHER Paul Pierce card, right? I know that may have crossed some of your minds. This one is obviously the best one so far, with outstanding shooting numbers across the board to go with great defense. Pierce with a Speed shoe on should be a killer investment for anyone’s My Team. There isn’t much to say here except this is a powerful card, and elite, in the right hands.
2014 Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves-- 96 overall
This isn’t Love’s best card, but it may come through with some value because he dropped into the Gold tier at 88 overall. This card lacks defense, just as Love does outside of the post, and lateral quickness. Other than that, it’s a monster on the glass and for shooting from outside as well. Love has an easy shot release and can be useful in 3-gold Road to the Playoffs.
2009 Mo Williams, Cleveland Cavaliers-- 82 overall
This is Mo Williams at his explosive, offensive-minded best. I see this card becoming a Budget Baller (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyUdVbJ0a6QlOpUKJRvfVf_DFrXp5fmYe for Budget Ballers) with its offense, then struggling mightily on defense. This kind of card is perfect for quick bench points, then subbing back in before the defensive shortcomings outweigh the offensive output.
2007 Anderson Varejao, Cleveland Cavaliers-- 75 overall
There are better options than Varejao in this tier. Standout stats include 89 Standing Shot Mid and 80 Defensive Rebound, but I’d overlook him for someone else.
2004 Tayshaun Prince, Detroit Pistons – 77 overall
Prince surprised me with this rating, because I felt that he’d be a bit higher. This card can have use in the game, but not without an experienced user or fan controlling him. This isn’t an entry-level card ready to make an impact on your team.
2008 Aaron Brooks, Houston Rockets – 72 overall
Simply put, this is collection fodder. He’s fast but not much else. Don’t bother.
2005 Amar’e Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns – 88 overall
Stoudemire has a nice card here that will find use until an Amethyst or Diamond upgrade, and he looks to be getting an Amethyst version sooner rather than later. For now, enjoy Stoudemire’s all-around game before injuries took hold in this card.
2006 Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat—93 overall
The best Wade besides the All-Star version is here, and it will be quite useful with a shooting Shoe. Wade does it all and almost acts as a second point guard for your team. Pick this card up and make sure you use him in this role!
2013 Al-Farouq Aminu, New Orleans Hornets—76 overall
Not a useful card. Overlook it.
2008 Jamal Crawford, New York Knicks—82 overall
This is another card I was a bit surprised at, but then I saw the defensive ratings. Crawford is what he is—an amazing scorer and ballhandler. If you ignore the defensive side, he has use in his current role today—sixth man. If that’s what you’re looking for, see if you can pick him up on the cheap.
That’s it for this week. If you’d like to see the players in-game, be on the lookout for more videos, and if you have any questions I can be reached on Twitter @twobrosgaming.
