It’s been roughly five months since FIFA 16 was released, and by now most of us have logged some serious hours. Whether it be Career Mode, FIFA Ultimate Team or Play Now games, you have more than likely exhausted your favorite mode. But don’t be alarmed, it happens to the best of us.
So in this article let's take look at some ways to breathe new life into FIFA 16.
Lead Leicester City To Glory
The status quo around Europe’s top leagues remains familiar. In Spain, Barcelona is dominating and looking like strong favorites to repeat the treble (La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League title). Juventus, the four-time consecutive Scudetto winners, has shaken off a slow start and looks to once again dominate the Italian Peninsula. Ligue 1 in France has once again seen foreign money propel PSG to the top of the table. German powerhouse Bayern Munich is looking to wrap up the Bundesliga in short order to focus all efforts on the Champions League.
All seems right in the world of footy, except in the country where modern footy was popularized.
Traditional powerhouse Manchester United is still struggling in the post-Alex Ferguson era. Chelsea, last year's title winner, is finally starting to wake from an early-to-mid season slumber that put the squad as low as 14th in the table. The other team in Manchester already has one eye towards a new manager while sleepwalking at times through the fixture list. Only Arsenal and their bitter rivals Tottenham look like EPL title contenders.
Oh, and this little club from the Midlands called Leicester City. Led by an experienced manager (Claudio Ranieri) and two players in the form of their life (Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez), the Foxes have been able to defy the odds (5000:1 in some books) and stay near the top of the table for quite some time. Why not grab the reigns at Leicester and attempt to replicate this magical season, which will surely see them finish in the Top 4 and quite possibly hoist the League trophy. Tackling underachievers like Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool might more difficult in FIFA 16 due to their ratings, but not impossible given the right player at the helm.
World Cup 2018
With the draw for Copa America finalized this week, and spirits generally high, what better way to prepare for the 2018 World Cup than by creating a squad comprised of all American-eligible players. As soccer continues to grow in popularity across the US, several young players are plying their trade overseas, as well as in the MLS. With notable players like Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey getting up there in age, why not cherry-pick the country’s best talent, throw them all together on a team and replace an existing club in a European league.
The future should be bright for US players such as the recently signed Chelsea CB Matt Miazga and Dortmund’s Christian Pusilic. Why not put them all on one team, develop them through training and attempt the impossible: leading the US to a World Cup victory? Go Through Full Season Of The Barclays Premier League As All 20 Clubs
Credit to OS’ own LiverpoolRed and Mizenberg for this idea. (Disclaimer, this isn’t for those who lack patience.) Playing a Career Mode in the Barclay’s Premier League can be somewhat boring and frustrating as you will often see big names left off the team sheet for no reason at all. Instead of inheriting the throne, why not equally disperse your managerial philosophies (or keep them default) throughout all 20 clubs in a series of “Play Now” matches to see who the champion will be at the end of the day?
Even though we’re already deep into the season, you could in theory play along with the weekend’s slate of games, allowing you the ability to use the same lineups and formations used in real life. Whoscored.com is a great resource for an approach like this. Apart from the obvious, the ability to play with nearly every player in the league offers something different than recycling your squad’s players mixed in with a few fresh faces.
While we wait for FIFA 17 news, there are still several fresh ways to enjoy FIFA 16. With that being said, what are some of the more creative ways you have used to get enjoyment out of FIFA 16?
