NBA 2K16: Throwback Thursday Card Reviews (1/18/16)

Hey guys, it’s Robby from Two Brothers Gaming again here with some more NBA 2K16 My Team Throwback Thursday card reviews! Every week in NBA 2K16’s My Team mode, there are Throwback Thursday cards released with specific players’ highlight seasons. Each week here on Operation Sports, I’ll be highlighting these players and showing you stats, badges, individual attributes, and everything related to each player. If you pull one of these cards, you’ll know what to do with them! Don’t forget to watch the accompanying video review as well.

Let’s get into it:

2009 Devin Harris, New Jersey Nets – 84 overall

At one point, Harris was one of the fastest guys in the league, even setting a Guiness World Record for end-to-end dribble time at the All-Star game. I was just mentioning Speed and Acceleration being important in My Team (see my Budget Ballers series), and Harris is a prime example with 95 Speed and 93 Acceleration. His outside shot is unreliable, and his mid-range shot is below average, but he has an 88 Draw Foul rating and good Shot Close and Layup ratings. In other words, drive the ball with Harris to find success and use his speed to your advantage. Otherwise, look elsewhere if you like to shoot from anywhere away from the basket.

2008 Brendan Haywood, Washington Wizards -- 76 overall

Haywood’s the epitome of what TBT cards are meant to be – the best representation of a player throughout their career. Haywood was the pivot man on contending Wizards teams that included Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler, and Antawn Jamison, and more, averaging a double double in some seasons. Haywood has a 90 standing dunk and 90 offensive rebound rating, but other than that, there isn’t much use for him in My Team.

2011 Jared Dudley, Phoenix Suns – 79 overall

Dudley Benefits from a 79 overall rating here. If he were just a bit better in the 2011 season, this card wouldn’t have much use. Thankfully his 88 standing shot 3 and Corner Specialist, Interceptor, and Pick Pocket badges help his case for the lower seeds in Road to the Playoffs. His weakness include a lack of speed and athleticism at the small forward position, and a lack of inside scoring.

2011 Dejuan Blair, San Antonio Spurs – 75 overall

Blair looked to be on the rise in San Antonio before falling out of favor with coach Popovich, but 2011 may have been his best as a pro. Blair came out of Pittsburgh as a rebounder, and he hits the boards hard, combining the Scrapper badge with 91 offensive and 83 defensive rebounding stats to give him some value if you pull him, but there are better overall players in the same tier at around the same price.

2014 Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers – 97 overall

This is a replication of Irving’s 57-point explosion against the Spurs from last year. The regular version of Irving has value and his Diamond card lives up to the hype, with 27 badges and outstanding marks when it comes to scoring and athleticism. If you’re lucky enough to pull this card, he should be started immediately.

That’s it for this week. If you’d like to see the players in-game, be on the lookout for more videos, and if you have any questions I can be reached on Twitter @twobrosgaming.
