Hey guys, it’s Robby from Two Brothers Gaming again here with some more NBA 2K16 MyTeam Throwback Thursday card reviews! Every week in NBA 2K16’s My Team mode, there are Throwback Thursday cards released with specific players’ highlight seasons. Each week here on Operation Sports, I’ll be highlighting these players and showing you stats, badges, individual attributes and everything related to each player. If you pull one of these cards, you’ll know what to do with them! Don’t forget to watch the accompanying video review as well.
Let’s get into it:
2009 Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
Howard took the Magic to the Finals in 2009 and had a fantastic year, leading the league in rebounding and blocked shots. With a 91 overall rating and Amethyst status, this version of D-12 represents his athletic prime. His one weakness is occasional soft finishes around the basket when not dunking, but if he’s used as a defensive and rebounding force while not being used as a primary source of offense, he’ll be the proper fit for almost any team. Simply put, Howard will cause fits for the opposition with his athleticism on both ends of the floor. Don’t overlook his Speed and Driving Dunk ratings either!
2008 Rudy Gay, Memphis Grizzlies
The 2008 season saw 21-year-old Rudy Gay find his stride, scoring 20 points per game to go with 6 rebounds and a steal and block per game. The problem with this card is that it checks in at an 80 overall -- just good enough to be in the Gold tier but not very usable given comparable options. Gay is ultra-athletic and may have a spot on the bench of some teams that run fast break style, but his tier hurts him.
2013 Eric Bledsoe, Los Angeles Clippers
Bledsoe got the name “Mini LeBron” and it stuck, even passing by Lebron James himself. It’s for good reason. He does a bit of everything at the point guard position, and compared to the regular set gold version of his card, this one is more athletic. Where Gay has tier issues, it actually helps Bledsoe to be a Silver player as he’s useful in Road to the Playoffs in the beginning seeds. Bledsoe’s season averages don’t pop out because he was playing a sixth man/backup role, but when he started it was obvious he had the talent to do so. Get him cheap and use him!
That’s it for this week. If you’d like to see the players in-game, be on the lookout for more videos, and if you have any questions I can be reached on Twitter @twobrosgaming.
