NBA 2K16: Throwback Thursday Card Reviews (11/3/15)

Hey guys, it’s Robby from Two Brothers Gaming again here with some more NBA 2K16 My Team Throwback Thursday card reviews! Every week in NBA 2K16’s My Team mode, there are Throwback Thursday cards released with specific players’ highlight seasons. Each week here on Operation Sports, I’ll be highlighting these players and showing you stats, badges, individual attributes, and everything related to each player. If you pull one of these cards, you’ll know what to do with them! Don’t forget to watch the accompanying video review as well.

Let’s get into it:

2009 Kevin Martin, Sacramento Kings
Martin does two things extremely well – outside shooting, and getting to the foul line. With more injuries since 2009, he’s come to rely more on his shooting, but the “prime” version of Martin prior to his trade to Houston saw him score 24 points per game on 41% from downtown. He also shot 86% from the free throw line at a high volume of attempts, meaning if you play with him, you should be aggressive on drives and use some pump fakes to get the foul calls. His Draw Foul rating should be quite high. At an 82 overall, this card will surprise some people once they head into Freestyle and get his unusual shot release down.

2009 Deron Williams, Utah Jazz
86 Overall Deron Williams from 2009 was arguably the best point guard in the NBA in a tight battle between he and Chris Paul. Williams averaged 19 points and 10 assists per game on 47% shooting and did not get an All-Star nod despite his great play. Williams just can’t stay healthy now, but this Throwback card represents everything we loved about the old D-Will – he could score and distribute at elite levels, although defense wasn’t always a priority. Get Williams and enjoy sliding under the radar against opponents online that may not remember just how good he was.

2008 Tyson Chandler, New Orleans Hornets
Chandler comes in at just an 80 overall because of a near complete lack of offense outside of five feet from the basket. Beyond that, I see him turning into a great Budget Baller for many users due to many people not looking past his initial rating. Chandler was a stud on defense and a great athletic pick and roll player with Chris Paul for the (then) New Orleans Hornets. Chandler will be a nice player for your Domination games if you can get him cheap enough.

That’s it for this week. If you’d like to see the players in-game, be on the lookout for more videos, and if you have any questions I can be reached on Twitter @twobrosgaming.
