NBA 2K16: MyTeam's Best Bronze Players

If you're struggling to advance through Road to the Playoffs' early seeds, or are just trying to complete some of MyTeam's more restrictive challenges, here are a few of the best bronze players you can buy in NBA 2K16:

Athletic Point Guards: Malcolm Lee (Free Agent) & Terry Rozier (Celtics)

Though Lee's listed as a shooting guard, his mid-range pull-up game is so terrible (58) that you'll only want to use him for driving dunks (75) and layups (72) where he can put his 87 speed and 90 vertical to good use. If you can get Malcolm hot, his mid-60s three-point ratings will rise to a level where he can comfortably knock down some open treys, but even then, you're really better off restricting him to a drive and dish game.

Rozier's 81 vertical and 65 driving dunk won't make him the star of any jam sessions, but he's got just enough lift to finish alley oops and go up strong with two hands after beating defenders to the rim with his 84 speed. Terry's shooting is decently rated in the mid-70s, plus he can really heat up in a hurry thanks to the Microwave badge.

Point Guard Gunners: Pierre Jackson (76ers)

If you want a point guard who can make your opponent pay for going under ball screens, Jackson's impressive selection of 12 dribbling, shooting and finishing badges will help boost his high-70s/low-80s scoring ratings. You probably won't want to carry the ball all the way to the tin since Jackson's just 5-foot-10 and 176 pounds, but he's a great decoy driver who can slip last-second passes to bigger finishers lurking around the bucket. A 77 steal rating is also a nice rating for a bronze player -- if you like to play manual on-ball defense.

Shooters On The Wing: James Jones (Cavaliers)

There are tons of bronze wings with mid-80s shooting ratings, but James Jones' speed (73) and badges (Microwave, Limitless Range, Corner Specialist) make him the top pick if you're looking for a forward/guard who can drain threes in the halfcourt or on a fast break.

Athletic Wings: Markel Brown (Nets) & Henry Walker (Free Agent)

If you prefer to have high risers running down your wings, there's no better bronze duo than Brown (98 vertical, 85 driving dunk) and Walker (94 vertical, 90 driving dunk). Brown is the better ball handler on fast breaks (77 vs. 70 speed), while Walker is the better shooter in the halfcourt (78 vs. 74 three pointer). Each player only has a single hot spot so make sure to watch where their feet are set before you rise up.

Balanced Wings: Pat Connaughton (Trail Blazers) & Anthony Brown (Lakers)

If you don't like to limit yourself to one particular playing style, Connaughton and Brown are the two most versatile wings in the bronze tier. Both guys can shoot on the move or from a standstill, but you should be careful to avoid Connaughton's three-point cold zones, which exist everywhere except the left corner. With 81 speed and 80 driving dunk, finishing fast breaks should be no problem for this pair of all-around guards/forwards.

Stretch Fours: Steve Novak (Thunder) & Hedo Turkoglu (Free Agent)

Novak's quick release and strong badges (Microwave, Unfazed, Limitless Range, Corner Specialist) make him the go-to four if you want a power forward who can fade off a pick and roll or knock down open looks from three. Steve also scores extra style points for his "championship belt" celebration, which triggers whenever he hits from downtown.

Hedo has a slightly higher three-point rating than Novak (88 vs. 86), but Turkoglu comes equipped with zero badges, and he has a critical cold zone in the area where power forwards typically sit during most four-out, one-in offenses (top of the key). Turkoglu's shooting animations are also much slower and tougher to time than Novak's, making Hedo a bench player whom you'll only want to bring in whenever Novak's fatigued.

Athletic Bigs: Justin Hamilton (Free Agent) & Anthony Bennett (Raptors)

Willie Cauley-Stein (85) and Dwight Howard (80) are the only centers in NBA 2K16 with more speed than Hamilton (78). He's also seven feet tall and weighs 260 pounds, so his freakish footwork is not a case of Hamilton being undersized like it is with Anthony Bennett. You will not find a more effective rim runner/pick-and-roll diver in the bronze tier than Hamilton. He can also hit free throws (82) better than most big men so you can be completely fearless while attacking the basket with this masked menace.

Bennett makes up for lack of size (6-foot-8, 259 pounds) with above-average leaping (75) and dunking ability (80 standing, 70 driving). He also has the extremely powerful Lob City Finisher badge, and he can beat most bronze centers down the court in transition or to the rim in the halfcourt (64 speed). Anthony excels at finishing alley oops after rolling off a screen, but he can also knock down mid-range (72) or three-point (72) shots if he's left open following a fade. His defensive rebounding (80) is not as suspect as you'd expect for someone his height, but he won't be giving you many second-chance opportunities (57 offensive rebounding).

Defensive Bigs: Sim Bhullar (Free Agent) and Boban Marjanovic (Spurs)

If you only want your centers to sit on the block and gobble up boards/blocks, the 7-foot-5 360-pound Bhullar and 7-foot-4 293-pound Marjanovic are going to be your guys. Marjanovic is slightly faster (37 vs. 25 speed) and has more skill in the post, but Bhullar's brute strength while backing down opponents can become a powerful weapon if your opponent is not smart enough to start taking charges or to bring a perimeter defender over for a quick strip.

I'll tell ya....I really like defenders...and when we are talking that...

Jerel McNeal and Elijah Millsap are good 3-D guys.

Ronnie Price and Norman Powell are better defenders but cant shoot as good as the aforementioned.

Also, not sure if he was always in the game but I had him as a trial card yesterday....Aaron Harrison. Pretty solid bronze despite 66 ovr.

Malcolm Lee prob better than stats suggest.

Terry Rozier is a good all-around PG with the Microwave badge.

Pierre Jackson is a nice offensive PG if you want a guy who can shoot threes and mid-range reliably.

Malcom Lee is a beast at getting to the rim and dunking.

Frazier, Jackson, and Rozier are great athletes, so any of them are ok if you want smaller PG.

If you want a comparable player as far as height/length, Lorenzo Brown.....he is better athlete and finisher than Dinwiddle, much better playmaker and better stamina. High hustle and steal rate. I would put scrapper or dimer badge on him. The trade-off is lose defense and shooting (3pt and FT).

I was already using Jared Cunningham before today's roster update, but he's a bronze beast now that he can actually shoot the ball in addition to being a posterizer dunker.

His standing three point rating just went from a 57 to an 80, plus he still has an 85 driving dunk, 85 vertical, and the Posterizer badge.

I have him in my collection but wasnt using him but now I will. He still has good speed/acc too. I probably will start RTTP this weekend and use him, DR Rose and DR Pierre in my lineup.

I assume you're referring to the Dynamic card? Did it go up that high?

I have always liked Cunningham's game...and was really glad when the Cavs took a flier on him in the offseason. I used the Current card some...but the lack of shooting was tough to deal with.

I might spend some MT to get the Dynamic if it's still a Bronze.

BTW - I wish 2K would give Jared more credit as a defender...it's really what kept him relevant in the league the last few years...along with his freakish athleticism. He's a high effort defender with length and can really be a pest when he gets after people on defense.

As for best Bronze players...

I really like Greg Ostertag...but he tends to be expensive. Also a fan of Dynamic Montrezl Harrell.

Both of the Grant's are solid...Jerian as a combo guard and Jerami as an ultra-athletic wing who can defend...and even play some stretch 4 with a 75 ST3.

I love Kendall Marshall's game...but he's not for everyone. You really have to love the PnR and play a more SIM style to get the full effect of his game. But, if you do, it's fun. He has his own style and throws some great flashy passes.

RJ Hunter is a sniper with solid 3PT ratings and better midrange...good length, but not a great defender. I'm also a fan of Jon Barry. Solid, yet unspectacular...makes 3's, gets to the FT line...great FT shooter to boot.

I never play him enough...but every time I play Quincy Acy, he is effective. Can even shoot 3's which always surprises people on the pick n pop. I like him better than Pero Antic this year, which is saying a lot.

I like Novak and either Scalabrine off the bench as stretch 4's. Novak's release is on point this year. And has always rebounded and defended better than he probably should. But...you have to find ways to get him open.

Vujacic, tall 3-D guard. Shame he has no badges.

Turiaf - fast and athletic defender. very good all around, but his athleticism and hustle stands out.

Kendall Marshall is a sleeper because a lot of people dont pay attention to badges. He has Dimer and Floor General so he boosts your teammates offensive ratings and makes it easy for them to score. His standing 3 is 75 iirc, add a shoe and he can be serviceable a threat if left open. average in pretty much everything but his playmaking is better than most gold PGs.

DR Luc Mbah a Moute is good defender with 79 standing 3pt. great hustle player.

Alan Anderson/James Anderson - guys that can shoot/score and both have Microwave and Limitless Range badges. Alan is better shooter/defender, James is better scorer/rebounder.

Bernard James and Joel Anthony - two high energy shot-blockers.

Chuck Hayes - high energy, ox-strong, low post defender. love it when guys try to back him down.....they cant do it. You need a gold level player to be able to get the upper hand on him down low. has 83 shot contest to boot.

sn: dont have him in my lineup because I dont see what he is good at besides dunking but its interesting that Ronald Roberts comes with Posterizer and Lob City badges as well as Scrapper. Bronze players with badges are a premium.

Kelly Oubre Jr. is the newest bronze beast after today's update:

85 standing three
77 speed
83 acceleration
76 lateral quickness
70 driving dunk
95 vertical
75 defensive rebounding
6'7"

I've used him before in the Gauntlet and he's pretty nice even against higher rated players.

He might eventually get updated to a silver card though since his overall rating is a 70, but for now, he can still be used in bronze challenges.

# 31 jyoung @ 01/15/16 05:32 PM
Seth Curry went down a bit in the latest roster update, but he's still one of the best offensive bronze point guards:

86 mid range
86 three
78 ball control
75 layup
79 speed
81 acceleration
89 stamina

Pierre Jackson is still probably the better pick for an offensive PG though due to his 12 badges compared to Curry's 0 badges.

I don't understand why 2K has allowed the 75 overall Pierre Jackson to remain a bronze player for so long. He should be a silver card but isn't for some reason.

# 32 jyoung @ 01/28/16 12:49 PM
After today's roster update, Troy Daniels now joins Steve Novak and Jud Buechler as the only bronze players with a 90 or higher three point shot.

Perry Jones is always great for me, never see anyone use him but he delivers at PF and have him in my starting lineup

I used him in the bronze seeds and for a few bronze challenges and I like him too.

Remember Harrison Barnes rookie season was 75 Ovr bronze in 2k13, everybody had that dude.

Perry Jones plays like a quality silver, his release is easy money and is super lengthy with decent speed. He has been a bronze beast since he came into the league. Another 2k bronze beast is Dynamic Jeremy Evans with a 89 dunk rating, decent rebounding and shot blocker.
