MLB 15 The Show: Diamond Dynasty Stock Watch (6-29-15)

Players On The Rise

It was a battle between Albert Pujols and Max Scherzer in terms of who was more rewarding of the big boost this week. Both came out looking good as Scherzer becomes a 97 overall while Pujols gets a plus-three boost and some overdue power increases.

Brett Gardner is another big winner this week as his ratings have fluctuated all year. He's mostly been on the upswing, but a position change had knocked his overall rating down until he got a plus-three boost this week and became a Gold. Jason Hammel also joins Gardner as a Silver that's now turned to Gold.

The biggest boost this week was given to Chaz Roe, who received a mammoth plus-13 boost in overall rating.

Players On The Decline

After a massive upgrade push early in the year, Michael Pineda came crashing back down a bit this week as he was given a minus-two decrease in overall this week, becoming a Silver. Jonathan Lucroy was the other major Gold who went Silver this week -- been a tough year for catchers in Diamond Dynasty.

A couple "professional" hitters (see: known more for bat than glove) also took some hits this week as Billy Butler and Michael Cuddyer got their ratings dinged.

Beyond that, a lot of the biggest changes happened to guys like Nathan Eovaldi and Justin Masteron because they were position swapped from starters to relievers -- auto-downgrades/upgrades occur based on position changes.

Market Changes

There were two new packs over the weekend called the Silver Loaded and Small Ball Packs. It dropped prices in general, but it really impacted the Silver card market; it more or less made most Silver cards as cheap as they've been all year.

Ratings Boost Prediction Results

Let's see how I did on my predictions this week (and as always come back over the weekend for next week's predictions):

-From the High Probability section I went: (3/4)

I tried to be as conservative as possible this week but still missed on one of my four "locks" in Chris Sale. It's surprising he still has not received a boost, but my other three choices all came through.

-From the Moderate Probability section I went: (4/7)

I'm happy with the results here as I should have figured Correa would not get a boost yet, and I forgot Shreve got a major boost last week. Otherwise the only miss was Kenley Jansen, which is fine because relievers are hard to predict.

-From the Low Probability section I went: (1/6)

Even with this being the low probability section, I really thought I would do better here this week. The only right call I made involved Maikel Franco. In particular, I'm a little shocked Taijuan Walker didn't get at least a minimal upgrade this week.

New Players

There are 16 new players in Diamond Dynasty this week that will impact Collections (including Alex Meyer and Kyle Schwarber! But the Lance McCullers watch is still on as he still has not been added to the game):

  • Danny Burawa (NYY)
  • Diego Moreno (NYY)
  • Nick Rumbelow (NYY)
  • Deven Marrero (BOS)
  • Alex Meyer (MIN)
  • Kyle Kubitza (LAA)
  • Franklin Gutierrez (SEA)
  • Steven Matz (NYM)
  • Matt Wisler (ATL)
  • Justin Nicolino (MIA)
  • Adam Morgan (PHI)
  • Seth Rosin (PHI)
  • Chris Volstad (PIT)
  • Kyle Schwarber (CHC)
  • Brett Wallace (SD)
  • Marcos Mateo (SD)

i don't mean to be the guy that comments just to pick out mistakes, but Chaz Roe is in the "declining" section despite receiving a 13 point increase and upgrading to bronze

This weekends packs ruined the market IMO and upgrades did nothing to help

No I appreciate it! I'll fix it now.

When I find time to flip players I just find random guys without knowing whether or not they will rise. This isn't too much of a big deal but it's fun to get these. I bought Hammel for 138 on Sunday.

The market has "crashed" at least 3 times before this and it always seems to rebound..just have to wait. its not losing value unless you sell it, wait it out, it might go higher again

atleast Forsythe got a little love. just now went to a bronze even though hes having a better season than Pedroia and Altuve. lol

# 9 ZB9 @ 06/29/15 09:43 PM
Mitch Moreland should get upped to silver.

Generally disappointed by the update. Hoping that investments in machado, altuve, and pedroia pay off though when the market rebounds
