MLB 15 The Show: Diamond Dynasty Ratings Boost Predictions (6/28/15)

We're wrapping up another week in the Diamond Dynasty universe, and the two packs released this weekend were the Small Ball and Silver Loaded Packs. I think fans have really taken to these packs as they seem to have fair value inside them, and they're affordable at 2.5K Stubs and 7.5K stubs. With that being said, it's time to look ahead once again and try to predict who might be getting a ratings boost Monday morning.

I'll be breaking the predictions into tiers based on my own confidence level (also apologies this is going up a bit later on Sunday than usual, had been out of town).

Ratings Boost Probability: High

-Albert Pujols - The power numbers are simply off the charts. He's gotten boosts in the recent past, but nobody will argue if he gets a major one tomorrow.

-Max Scherzer - He had the no-no last weekend, and he's been ready for a boost now for some time.

-Chris Sale - But if Scherzer has needed a boost, Sale has been in even bigger need of one. He's got 63 strikeouts in his last 36 innings pitched.

-Billy Burns - He's just having an awesome rookie campaign. The speed, the defense and the run production have been so good.

Ratings Boost Probability: Moderate

-J.D. Martinez - The power continues to be real, he seems like an easy candidate for an upgrade.

-Kenley Jansen - He strikes out everybody and walks nobody.

-Brett Gardner - I pushed him last week, and he's still hitting for power now to go with all his other solid attributes.

-Carlos Correa - He's a boss. He's not even 21. Give him all the boosts.

-Justin Turner - He already has amazing numbers in The Show against right handers, but he probably could use some power now as well.

-Chasen Shreve - It's one of those weird months where every time Shreve comes in he's getting a win. I want to give him a boost for the luck, plus he's been pitching well as well.

-Dallas Keuchel - Keuchel just continues to motor along, and now he's throwing in big K performances as well.

Ratings Boost Probability: Low

-Charlie Blackmon - He still can't really hit left-handed pitching, but he's putting up good numbers depite that fact.

-Maikel Franco - The Phillies are dreadful, but Franco is clubbing home runs.

-Taijuan Walker - He had an ugly start of the season, but he's been cruising lately and maybe can at least gain back the boosts he lost earlier in the season.

-Yovani Gallardo - He's just consistently good year to year. He's not appreciated enough I don't think for that fact.

-Joe Blanton - Of course Joe Blanton is pitching really well for the Royals, of course!

-Marco Estrada - He struck out the world this week, and overall he's putting up solid numbers this season.

Francisco Cervelli is still a 74 despite being very good defensively, clutch at the plate, and hitting over .300 - someone is going to have to explain to me why he's not getting boosted STILL.

I know he's gotten boosts in the past, but c'mon. Jacob deGrom has been filthy this season. His W-L record doesn't tell the whole story, same with Scherzer, but his line is still fantastic. 8-5 W-L with a 2.15 ERA, an even 100 Ks in 100.1 IP, a .208 OPP AVG, and a 0.93 WHIP! He has easily been one of the top pitchers in the MLB this year, and, if he continues this trend, will undoubtably be chosen to be a part of the NL All Star Team. He's often lost in the shadows of Matt Harvey, but in reality, he has performed better than The Dark Knight.

Compare a created positional player who emphasizes speed, contact and glove to a created positional player who emphasizes strength, power and arm. Take note of all the attributes for both players. These attribute ratings will become the range for each attribute to design your created player in an authentic manner. This is the most fair and authentic method in player creation on MLB The Show.

If anyone would like to share the attributes for each type of player that would be very much appreciated. I only have MLB 12 and this experiment was from MLB 12. It worked out very well then. I'm just curious if the parameters are the same now as they were then. Each attribute ranged 0-60, and the total ranged 500-600.

Instead of just having just one created player (yourself) on your game, you might as well have a whole bunch of created players. Create players for your buddies or family members who also love the sport. Or come up with a list of fictitious characters you’ve conjured up. By doing this you’ll add so much depth and competitiveness to the game.

Make them from common baseball countries such as the United States, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Japan, etc. Envision them playing Major League Baseball. What do they look like? Customize them with a specific height, weight, uniform number etc. Then assign each player his attributes using the range of the 2 types of players.

Once you have designed all your players (works well in an Excel spreadsheet) then create them on your MLB game. You could either leave each of them as a free agent and wait for MLB teams to sign them or assign them to a team yourself. Personally I prefer to assign every one of my created players to an MLB team. This ensures them of playing minor league baseball right away as they won’t quite be good enough to play in the show right away. They’ll develop in the minors and work their way up, just like real life. Scatter the players around Major League Baseball, and see them flourish and become the superstars of their new teams. You’ll probably feel a sense of accomplishment when these player begin making a name for themselves and making the all-star teams and winning awards and World Series titles.

Could someone please take a screen shot of each type of player and post it here for others? I think plenty of people would love to create their players this way. Basically your player will be the same quality player you'd have as if you were creating him for use in RTTS, except you'll have a whole bunch of created players on your game now. On MLB 12 I was only able to create 18 players, not too sure if that has changed.

New to playing DD. Quick question.

I have a Diamond Felix Hernandez and have played 12 games. Still haven't pitched with him yet. Any reason why he doesn't get used?

I had the same thing happen with max scherzer. The selection is totally random but I've had success in moving pitchers I want to pitch with in the 3rd and 1st spot

The dice roll is supposed to be random, but it definitely seems loaded. Of my current 5 man rotation, I've used:

#1 Once
#2 Once
#3 3 times
#4 7 times
#5 4 times.

Just move him down in your order.
